The 2 series will play 23.98Psf ie if your serial # starts with a 2 it will do 23.98 via component
    same with the 14 L’s

The A500 will play BSP but be forewarned BSP tapes will dirty up your heads a lot faster than dbeta.Be careful especially with older or improperly stored tapes. It’s cheaper to run a component to SDI converter and analog to AES converter on your SP deck than to get your A500 rebuilt. That said, the DVW A500 is the workhorse of SD.

  • Use the AJA easy setup for DVCProHD 720P VFR if you shot 23.98 (24PN)
This will playback at 59.94 in the timeline and display at 1280 x 720 to your HD/SDI monitor.

It’s critical to know what your regional master control wants to distribute, Your delivery will need to match what regional control wants to feed their encoding station/server
By the time it gets to the consumer it’ll be some mpeg encode via cable or air.

We have no issues patching 422 control to any of the decks in house, hot patching 422 has never been an issue going back thru nonlinear days. I’ve seen issues with Kona controllers when someone has gone in to the Network pane in system preferences and attempted to connect Kona Serial, I’ve seen issues when the HDCam (SR and vanilla) is improperly configured as to which downconvert or off-tape signal is being sent down the 422 line, but that’s frame rate servo issues. None of our Apple/FCP/AJA stations nor HP/DS/AJA stations drop 422 connections. The only time I’ve seen issues is when the appropriate machine are not patched, the tape is record inhibited or my most occuring error “local” (I need a remote for my remote)
If you’ve been doing this for that long the you can look at the “capture setting” during output as the old “preview switcher” from linear switcher days.
Sounds like a call to AJA is in order

press the “red” light on the correct channel you are using for input. that will bring up the dialog to set input level. the +/- level set is on the same side of the device as the menu wheel.
You need to be in 4CH mode for the external lights to be on

October 4, 2010 at 10:09 pm in reply to: Memory and Cache…FCP Crashing

FCP being a 32 bit app can only access 2.5 gig of ram and only use 1 processor at a time, so yes that is normal.
my guess is you have an issue with a still or a clip in the timeline of the particular sequence.
It is possible this issue may have now corrupted your preferences causing general problems in other sequences.
