This is a project that the “artist’ ingested himself. There are multiple clips with the same friggin’ name, i.e. “Clip 1”. I spent lots of time doing just what you said and found there was no logical way to define which of the four or five similar named clips to reconnect to. Found that by copying the project, sequences and all, it popped up just fine. Now after making multiclips in the newly copied projects and wanting to spread the workload to another editor, found this issue. I was able to leave the original project open, copy the multiclips from the original project into the new one and then move the drives to the new machine. Still seems like a glitch though.
Thank god for the “rename file to match clip” in FCP. Avid woefully lacks here.

Bob,
Of course I’m pulling my hair out…all the reasons you can relate to I’m sure. DVCProHD 1080i60 with mixed formats, not too bad though. All new media. Control set to freerun though I’ve tried genlock to SD black burst. Shot in P2 at 1080i24p and 1080i29.97 (I know, stupid Panasonic renaming) on the HVX200. But aiff audio files click and pop too. Again, clean direct line out of the Mac.
Thanks Bob,

February 1, 2009 at 8:16 am in reply to: Dell 24″ Monitor & RAM for Mac Pro – suggestions on where to purchase from.I have six Dell 24s from various time periods. They so Rock! Great picture and well used for a full screen to get pretty close true color. Get the higher quality one and for sure the adjustable pedestal.
No more Apple Cinema displays here.I got several from outside vendors and three from Dell. Dell takes longer to ship most times. You can do some research and find them elsewhere. Again, they so rock. I use 2-24s on FCP and now on our Avids.
Best of luck

They, especially Rudy, are the best. I called Rudy with an issue on a 1080p monitor and he sent me, no charge for the use, an HDP converter. My project went on longer and he was so friggin’ cool about it and told me to keep it until we finished (and I got paid!!). I just put a system together for the American Idol “Going to Disneyland” spots and never once considered another product. That makes 6 Kona 3s for me and counting. Their corporate model is one many other companies should follow, especially the Big Silver Fruit one!!!! Loyalty? I’d say!

Zack,
I recently shot a doc using the Varicam and the HV20 Canon at 24p. I took in the HV20 firewire then just simply placed the shots from the HDV onto the DVCProHD timeline and off I went. Looked just as good as the original HDV, some had to render very quickly for color correct reasons but I don’t think you need go through all that recapture stuff. The Kona does a good job of making it all look good on the putput.

I solved it. Found through sifting the web that the version 2 new release of FXFactory disabled Log and Transfer. They have posted a new update and all is good.

Steven,
I used the Kona 2 often on the Nascar circuit but have forgotten much about it. I have a Kona 3 and you can just select the new frame rate in the Kona control panel. Without having the K2 here, do check the control panel. Set the FCP Easy setup at the 29.97 frame rate and the Kona should allow you to select the primary or secondary output at the rate you need. You can also dub from one HDCam to another converting the frame rate, just did that last week and it passed CBS QC.

Thanks Chris. Seems possible. This thing hasn’t been off really short of problem solving for over a year. Which processor monitor do you use?
