    Hi Jonathan,

Probably too late, but this seems to work for me:

    1. Select all clips you want to sync in the Bin.
    2. Change the “Synchronize Point” to “Audio: Track Channel 1” (Or mix-down if you think that will improve the result).
    3. Click on OK
    4. Right-click on the new sequence > Edit in Timeline.

That seems to work for me!

From there you can delete bad takes, and mute audio for all but your master track.

  • Thanks so much Walter – this may just work so long as I can keep the # of revisions to a minimum.
    Cheers,

  • Okay, @eyedesyn & @fusepilot we’re able to point me in the right direction: “Immigration” by Lloyd Alvarez:

If anyone knows of a method of doing what I’ve asked about that doesn’t involve scripts/plugins I’d still be interested to hear about it. Thanks!

    Hi Ian,

Unfortunately, I did not. I’d recommend just doing a screen recording in a painting app and re-timing the footage in AE or an editing program.

    Hi Andrey,

Thanks for the tip! With so many AE forums it was a daunting task picking just one.
    Cheers,

Okay so the following keyboard shortcuts are helpful but don’t fully resolve the issue:

uu => Expands all animated tracks so that keyframes are visible.
k => Advances the current time indicator to the position of the last visible keyframe.

So the procedure now looks like:
    Paint a stroke.
    Press uu.
    Press k.
    Repeat

Again, my goal would be to simply draw the image in one go and then have after effects rebuild it after the fact. Not unlike painting it in photoshop with a screen capture program running.

I guess another option would be some sort of plugin that always advances the time slider to the position of the last keyframe anywhere in the layer would be helpful; but I don’t know if AE supports that sort of plugin.
    Thanks,

    Donovan

Same goes for me, I’ve got a project coming up that is just screaming for Jenna; but I don’t have it.
