Yes. The G-Raid Mini. I have one for same-day-edits and it works great. It’s a 2 disc 200 Gbyte array, FW400/800. It’s quite small, draws power from my MBPro’s FW port and it’s fast.

I think that the essence of what Creative Cow really is was demonstrated perfectly in Walter’s recent blog article. He could have perhaps hired locally to get his shop re-wired, but instead chose to take advantage of Creative Cow’s attributes and contact Bob Zelin. Walter obviously chose wisely. Here now begins yet another lifelong friendship and collaboration because of what Creative Cow is.
When I first stumbled into this place I couldn’t help thinking about what a unique name the COW has. All other forum-based multimedia web sites have names that hint at what is discussed but then are not easily remembered, nor do they stand out in a crowd. Not like Creative Cow.
Surely, this is one of those instances where the whole is worth much more than the sum if its parts. Call it whatever you want: Spirit of COW or Essence of Cow, but if you were able to bottle it you’d make a Zelin bucks.

Try doing a read/write test on your XServe RAID. Process of elimination. If you’ve used up more than half of your RAID space then the transfer rates may indeed be low enough now that it can’t support the multiple uncompressed streams you’re trying to edit with.
Go to http://www.aja.com and download their free testing software. It’s called AJA KONA System Test version 2 and I found it on this page about halfway down:

The biggest advantage is not having to worry about adding/removing pulldown like you do with 24p. In addition, motion is somewhat smoother because of the extra 6 frames per second. Working with 30p is exactly the same as 60i, so use the DV NTSC codec in FCP. If your footage is 16:9 then capture using the DV NTSC 48K Anamorphic setting.
