And the storal of the mory is this: NEVER change the name of any BPAV folder to anything else or none of the Sony transfer programs will see it. That’s why you have to create uniquely named parent folders with the BPAV folders inside those.

This is what I use for my EX1R. The base plate gives much needed stability and strength to the bottom of the camera and the accessory piece out the side is wonderful for things like a wireless receiver. The machining on all pieces is stellar.

Also keep in mind that it’s far easier to make good video look bad than the other way around. It might be better to reach a happy medium by degrading the good footage a bit and improving the high gain footage until there’s an acceptable match.

Using a UV/protector filter means about a 2% drop in light coming into the lens. There are also straight clear filters available and the drop in the light percentage with one of those will be negligible.
My test was done using a Sony EX1R.

Yes you do. CRC is only available within those apps. The size difference your seeing may be a bug in the new OS. To be sure, either use one of the Sony apps or find another Mac running an earlier OS and do your transfers the way you always did. If everything works normally again then it’s a Mountain Lion thing and not your codec.

CRC is the error checking feature (for file transfer) in the new Sony XDCAM Browser and the legacy Sony Clip Browser app.

It’s called the XDCAM-PMW200 and it looks like a direct replacement for the EX1R. MPEG422HD 50Mbit recording on UDF formatted SxS cards. Still records 35 Mbit XDCAM EX format if you want, but the cards have to be formatted in FAT32.

I don’t think that Sony would have allocated that much space on their web page just to announced a 3 chip version of their entry level XDCAM camera. “Something Big is Coming” has to mean much more than that.

DPX file format is probably the ultimate if you have access to lots and lots of hard drive storage. I would strongly suggest against using H.264 or MPEG 2 if you ever want to re-edit what you’re trying to archive. Those codecs are quite lossy in that you suffer a generational loss every time you edit. In this instance it’s best to use an “I-frame” codec instead of Long GOP codecs.
If you have Quicktime Pro on your machine there are several intermediate-style codecs right in QT Player such as the Apple Intermediate codec (IAC) that you can transcode with.
