Sir John, I watched the youtube Gary Rebholz at the Sony NAB2015.
I think some things have even changed since his introduction my UI did not seem to match his, thus led to a little frustration. Also some codecs I use due to other programs, it does not recognize, Edius AVIs nor Cineform AVIs (unsupported)???? in catalyst prepare? and you can’t render out those Intermediaries AVIs??? Are they try to force the XAVC thing? Oh well I guess……

I will patiently wait for VASST lead trainer JR to dig in – create, and then serve his fellow man!
    Thank U

Thank You Ann Bens!!! Like our father Abraham said – “Seeing as I have gone this far may I ask just one more question (because I don’t really understand) Do you know of a Video Card that is CUDA AND, I think Vegas needs the [Open CL}?
I will not ask you any more on this issue – and am thankful for you help.

Thank You Ann Bens!! – May I be so bold as to ask you one more video card question please?
I am trying to find a video card that will work with both Pre Pro 6 and Vegas 13. CUDA is not good for Vegas 13. The AMD Radeon R9 290x is, but I cant seem to find any conclusive info if leaving Quadro k2000 with CUDA in exchange for the AMD Radeon R9 290x will KILL my adobe performance on PC2 specs below? Or yes it will preform with PP6 somewhat less but still decent??? Or yes and be the same??

June 21, 2015 at 2:41 am in reply to: Can someone explain Sony’s Catalyst Suite?

I think Catalyst might be Sonys more diplomatic and actually, wiser approach to a transition similar to Apple’s from FC7 to FCPX. Learning how NOT to handle it from Apple, who, just threw the FC7 people under the bus which turned out most beneficial for Adobe with some smaller benefits to Avid and others. So We will see, but I think this is where Sony Editing future will be. “A wise man sees trouble coming and prepares” You might want to start learning Catalyst now.
    Time will tell the Story

June 20, 2015 at 3:42 pm in reply to: Another calibrating monitor question

Sir John -1st Thank You – I have messed with my spyder 3 pro for 3 days – there is no way it is correct. But it may be my use of it – so I just went back to standard settings on monitor. I was peaking whites on waveform monitor and the picture was still dark, using the spyder recommended settings??? I think that is more for photography?

Anyway! do you have a recommendation on a good monitor? that I can generally trust. I am now doing a program for Broadcast on Church Channel – need to know what I am sending is spot on. Was looking at the Samsung UD28d590d or Asus PB287Q – they are the lower end 4K monitors, What do you think? Open to suggestions but cant drop a $1000 dollars on monitor at moment.
    Thank You

June 17, 2015 at 10:38 pm in reply to: Another calibrating monitor question

Sir John I have the spyder 3 also. But just saw this thread because I have a new monitor (Not great but better) I noticed you said in this post

[(1073.7M colors). It’s brightness is also 300 cd/㎡ while mine is 400 cd/㎡ so it’s not as bright.]

Mine is neither of those, but maybe I dont understand???? In calibrating my monitor the spyder software had me adjust to 120 cd/㎡ from 189.9 cd/㎡ and my picture is dull as looking through a fog??? Am I calibrating incorrectly to go down to 120? If 120 cd/㎡ is correct whats the advantage 400 cd/㎡? So I guess I am asking what is the proper setting on spyder?
