First, pop the top and check the tape is not stuck or ripped or whatever. Don’t touch anything.
Press and hold Left arrow key [might be right, I can’t remember] while pressing the Menu button.
The Service Menu will show up. You should be able to do it yourself from there. When it unthreads, just before ejecting, make sure again the tape is clear and ready for ejecting.

Jobs is clear that new models are in the horizon. I think you will get 2 at most 3 more speed bumps. Probably 3 GHz in the fall and 3.2 – maybe even 3.6, by the next WWDC. That in my opinion will be the last.

For HD the only formats available are 145, 185, 220 MXF, and DVC Pro HD native.
14:1 is used for 24p/23.976 standard def projects. I don’t remember them being available for HD ingest.

If you have Adrenaline HD [version 2 on the PC], you can edit DVC Pro HD 24p at its native format – which to be accurate is actually 23.976 and NOT 24p.
You can digest it either via seperate firewire card [NOT the one in the Adrenaline] or use SDI.
If you want the best quality and have the space for it – I would SDI it via 10 bit in a 23.976 project setting.
If you have MC 12 [and I think the later versions of MC 11] – you ingest it via SDI in a 23.976 project setting.
Adrenaline or Meridien MC both have multicam capabilities.

Just a correction. EditCam HD uses DNxHD codec which is superior to DVC Pro HD in regards to quality. It is a full raster codec, can be either 8 or 10 bit and supports all popular HD formats and frames – these are the things DVC Pro HD are not.
Both sample at 4:2:2.

In my opinion it is likely you will see PCI-Express G5. I don’t think Apple will wait that long.
The last G5 in my opinion will be SATA 2, PCI-E and DDR 2. -
