Oddly enough I was just doing that yesterday. Ebay does a roaring trade in refurbished z800s and there’s some damned deals out there. I was put onto this by someone else on the Cow though I forget who. In the end I decided to buy my own system because you don’t know exactly those z800s have been through over the years…
Slightly off topic- though it’s been touched on a few times through this thread- I think we conceed the PCs aren’t cheaper than Macs battle too easily. for $AUD2000 I get a PC with:

16GB of 2600 DDR4 RAM
4GB GTX 960 GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GPU
Samsung SSD and HDDs.On the other hand $2000 buys me a mac with:

1920×1080 sRGB displayThose don’t seem very equivalent. Of course you get the monitor but I already use Dell Ultrasharps and wouldn’t swap for a Mac monitor. Having to purchase a new monitor every time you buy a computer seems insane to me btw. Just such a waste on several levels.

Not FCX but I bought a Mac for Final Cut Pro 5 back in the day. Never had one before and won’t be buying one again. Of course back in those days everyone told you up front that you had to have a Mac to edit. Certainly not the case but a very widely held view at the time.

There’s no way to automatically copy a look. If you could post a still we could maybe offer an opinion as to what was done.

Isn’t that the default on Edius? I haven’t got it on my system currently to check but I seem to recall back in the day that was the way it was. In fact the first time I used FCX I thought it felt very much like Edius in its default single viewer, tracks locked, ripple mode.

Definitely no expert on this front but I recently decided I definitely needed to upgrade to a much better monitor myself so did a good deal of research. In the end I settled on the Dell U2713h. It’s an ultrasharp model (more pixels than HD), big at 27″, it can be hardware calibrated and it can be rotated upright so you can edit in portait mode (haven’t done it yet. Dying to give it a go!).
I only picked it up yesterday so haven’t got to work with it yet but sticking it next to my old monitor and comparing my photos I’m stunned by the new things I’m seeing.

First of all, thanks for that link! That behaviour in photoshop has bugged me for years so to finally have that cleared up is amazing.
As to assigning the script to a shortcut can’t you just go edit>Keyboardshortcuts then in the popup box that opens choose “file” and scroll down the list to scripts. Click on whatever you’ve saved the script as and enter “ctrl+Z”. That seems to have worked fine for me.

This is not my field really but I gave it a shot just for practice. I’m sure someone here with more skills can do better but this is pretty close. If you want to have a crack yourself use the “clone stamp” tool to copy other areas of the frame over the old couple. This picture has some sharp geometric lines so use the polygon lasoo tool to define the area you are working on.

Well it gets used everywhere but as far as advertised jobs go is there anywhere where its the program most requested? Can we find a page of classified ads where there are more companies asking for editors with FCX skills than Premiere and AVID?
Just going through classifieds ads here in Australia. Found about 30 video editing job ads. Half of those didn’t specify the tools. The other half demanded Premiere. No FCX. But no AVID either which I found interesting. At least in this part of the world the battle for the program the jobbing editor needs to learn has been run and won I’d say.

There’s an awful lot of work done there by someone who knows what they’re doing. Hard to say exactly what they’ve done but this should get you close-ish:
First of all add a contrast adjustment layer and set the contrast to minus 50. You might even need to duplicate that layer to remove enough contrast.
Next add an exposure layer and drop the offset to about, say, 0.02. It’ll depend on your image.
Then to get the colours, add a new layer and paint it green and blue where you need those colours. Then set that layers blending mode to ‘Softlight’ to get it to blend with your photo. And then adjust the opacity of that layer to get the look you’re after.
