Mac Pro is not going away, just getting revamped with a smaller footprint and Thunderbolt. Waiting for IVY Bridge to be released at the end of the month for desktops.
Read somewhere that Intel is is opening up their 10 Gig-E licensing and will start to become standard in most computers. Hopefully this is the case with the new Mac Pros and or some sort of Networking SAN via Thunderbolt. I would think with Xsan being included in Lion they are not going to do away with the Mac Pro’s yet. Just my thoughts, they probably have holes, give me a break it’s the end of the day!
Don’t know what the deal is but we are having the same issue. Not a whole lot of confidence right now in FCPX, at least in FCP7 you could open an auto save file if something went wrong.
Thanks for the link, saw another about animating in Marquee that really helped as well. Looks like there maybe some promise to it once we get our templates animated.
It’s funny how people read things differently, from what I read, he’s not using it now but is cautiously optimistic about it. Never in the article does it say however that he “won’t use it” as the post replies.

So far just using it for special projects involving a lot of h.264 and avchd from DSLRs. For this it works great, for regular TV broadcasts needs better timecode support before I can be more efficient with it. We plan to move to it when the next updates come out.
To answer your first question, there is a work around. You can drop Motion files into the timeline, but you need to change the extension to .moti from .motn.
The drive or volume doesn’t show up to make an Event on. In order to add a SAN you have to use the “Add San” feature under “File” this won’t allow me to add my NAS either.
