Log and Capture for HDV is Cocoa but the main Log & Capture is still Carbon. The core of FCP is still Carbon which will have to be re-written at some point if they choose to further advance FCP. I think this is why we heard rumors of Apple trying to sell it last year (I don’t think they will).

However doesn’t sound like it’s a big priority on their to do list, iPods and iPhones are too hot for them to deal with right now.

In regards to HD and Captioning it’s not MacCaption’s fault but AJA and Decklink havn’t seen the need to open up the auxiliary non-video lines where CC is contained in HD.

The next version should be a game changer all around since FCP is written in Carbon, in which Apple is no longer going to support it in 64bit. Cocoa should be the code of choice, Compressor and Motion I believe are both written in this. Also with Open CL being recently standardized, we should see some pretty cool changes in the Next FCP. I wonder though, if they re-write it in a different code how stable will it be or will they come out with a whole other editor and make you pay extra for it. I’m not a programmer but just my 2 cents worth.

Is your ram all from the same manufacture? I have the original Apple Ram that came with the machine and Kingston. Everything seems to be running fine without dropped frames but still cannot get rid of the orange.

We used Betacam Sp for years after being told that the quality is better than DVcam. After doing some research we found that DCcam has a higher line resolution at 500 vs Betacam 330. After taking a second look at it I would have to agree that DVcam is definitely sharper than SP. Also the tapes are cheaper, smaller, and you can reuse them. Adam Wilt wrote an article online about DV vs Betacam that you should google for further info.

Modify the Timecode of the broken clip to match the rest and add it to the Multiclip window.

All current drivers and such. There shouldn’t be any TC coming from our Switcher, it would be nice if there was then I would have this problem. But that’s how they get you to buy routers, go figure.

How? That’s what I’m using to capture. Now keep in mind I’m not transferring from Tape, I’m capturing directly from my switcher SDI live, and trying to get the TC from my IMX deck via the RS422. I see the TC that it’s getting in VTR Exchange but when I punch “capture now” it captures the video but no TC. What am I missing?

Most of the people I know who where using Premiere including myself opted to go with FCS, and I’m here in the middle of the US in Missouri, not in LA or East Coast. Matter of fact I don’t know anybody who is using Premiere anymore, it’s either FCS or Avid.

Photoshop came out with some cool upgrades but Premiere still has some ways to go before they make me a believer.

Sorry dude didn’t mean it so hard, just thought it was funny with all the news about it even before Apple even announced it. I was even getting tired of it. Sorry didn’t mean it to sound so rough.
