Thanks Mike for your preference I fully agree.
It just means I will have to sit down and change all the font sizes one by one for the entire movie.Wish there was an easier way but there isn’t but at least I don’t have to change anything else.

I must say Arial 14pt. bold does not look bad in my opinion.
I have not yet submitted the movie so there is still time to change.Would you say when comparing the two that Verdana 14pt. bold is definitely too distracting on the screen?
The reason I used Verdana is that I was told it is an easy font to read on screen but somehow it seems a bit overpowering.

This post has really put me onto the correct workflow and i thank all the members that contributed.
Originally I used to create a single enormous veg. file and render out from there.I won’t begin to tell you how many problems and weird fx have been ironed out by be now importing the single veg. files from within vegas. As Nigel also advised, the master veg. file auto updates as you continue editing the individual veggies.
I am busy doing my final render which takes three hours (it is a 2 hour movie)but the workflow has been amazing with no crashes at all in vegas 12.I find it is a big step up from vegas 10.

I have received a reply from Sony who do not recommend nesting multiple files into a final veg. file.”it is not recommended practice as it is very resource reliant and can cause crashes and bog your machine down if you are nesting too many projects. It is recommended that you render those other projects and then bring it into your final .veg file instead.”
What I am doing is breaking my larger veg. projects down into two as a safety precaution in case they do not open at a later stage which will be disastrous.I am then rendering each as suggested and bringing them into the final/master veg. file.Doing it this way I have no problem of the master veg. re-opening.
All edits have to be done on the smaller veg. files before rendering and bringing them into the master veg. before burning to DVD.
Can anyone please give me some advice or direct me to the relevant thread as to what template or format would be recommended that I should use when rendering the smaller veg. files before bringing the rendered file back into vegas.
I am matching my project with the media that I am using. If I am using 1920×1080 25p as my project templates on all my veg. files what should I render the smaller veg.files out as so that when I import the rendered back into vegas (1920x1080x25p)I do not lose too much in compression when it re-renders again to Architect widescreen.?
If I render the smaller veg. files to Windows Media Video 11 6.7Mbps 1080 25p it does not seem too bad.Is there perhaps a better render template for my particular project that I could use?

I forgot to mention that I do not get any error report when it does not open except (vegas is not responding) and then it remains at 9%.
Another aspect that cropped up is that once one of the smaller veg. files does open it is also very sluggish initially and will not respond to an edit for a minute or 2 and then once it does the edit it gets better and faster.
Anyway will keep you posted if anything crops up and please let me know if you come across a solution.

I do understand about the nesting workflow but have to use my copy paste method as the veg. files also will not open when I drag them onto the timeline via the explorer window within vegas.
I can also copy over a string of events from one timeline to another although that also has its limits.Sometimes I have to select fewer events or they will not copy over.
I have a first veg. file of 89.8MB that manages to open.Any more data added and it will not open so I keep it at this size with backups a)b)c) etc. Then I have two more veg. files of 32,9MB and 48,6MB that also open fine, that I copy over to the first and then render.
I do not know if this has anything to do with my PC being not up to handle the project(core i5 and 8GB ram) or if it is vegas 12 related.
I have just checked my last project using vegas 10 the veg. files of 2,24MB opened up no prob. But what is strange is that this particular project was one hour long and the veg. file size is only 2,24MB but my present first veg.file is only fifty min. long and yet it is 89,9MB with same camera.
Anyway hope this helps.I must add that every time I open a veg. file of my present project I just pray it opens or otherwise I start again.

Thanks Steve sometimes I neglect to use the correct terminology which does cause confusion,my apologies, thanks for correcting me.
Anyway I am glad you understand my workflow but I still prefer to copy, paste as opposed to dragging the events onto the timeline.
I have right now finished copy/pasting all my events from veg.2 and 3 into veg.1 which I save and rename as my master veg. This is now rendering without any problem. The problem is once I close the master veg. it will not re-open and I will have to start again with the dragging/pasting process to create another master.(Hope I make sense).
However it is very quick to drag/paste over to create a new master as the events have all been edited, but it is a nuisance in any event.
I have even tried leaving out certain events containing special fx like muzzle flashes and other masking fx.but the master still will not open after a certain limit.

Maybe my workflow is incorrect but this is how I do it.
I have 3 veg. files created which make up the completed movie each 30 minutes long.Veg.1 will have the first 30 min. veg.2 the 2nd 30 min.and veg.3 the last 30min.
I open up veg.1 but I do not drag the veg. files 2,and 3 from the explorer window within veg.1 onto the timeline as you suggest. What I do is open veg. 2 and then copy the whole timeline of clips from veg. 2 and paste them onto the timeline of veg.1 after the last clip in veg.1 thereby creating continuity.
It is only when approx. 60 min. of clips have been pasted across before veg.1 refuses to open. This never happened in vegas 10 and shouldn’t to my knowledge happen in vegas 12.
When you drag the veg. files from within vegas onto the timeline they are rendered and you cannot continue editing them as normal which is not what I want.

Steve I am only using veg.project files (there are 3 that make up the project)and I do not open all of them either.
Then finally I will copy and paste all 3 veg. files one at a time into my final veg. file.It is the final veg. file that once gets over approx 55min of media will not open.At say 50 minutes it opens fine then when I add a few more clips it will not open. The final veg. file I try and open without any other prog. open because of the ram issue.
I get a vegas not responding message which remains for 30 minutes before I close the veg. prog.
My preview ram is set at 200MB out of 7,200MB.

Many thanks I did try both your last suggestions but alas still no joy.The final veg.project file will not open with any further media than it has already got.
Just luckily I have the 90 min. project broken up into 3 separate pieces of veg. files which I can copy and paste into the final veg. and then render immediately before I close it.It is not a train smash except being a nuisance and taking up extra precious time.I have already wasted so much time trying to sort the problem out I am now going ahead with the last resort.
Once I have rendered it,if I find an error which is likely I have to do the whole copy paste thing again.Anyway what’s new 🙂
