That may have been the reason why the Vegas YouTube Uploader was not working. The Uploader does two functions: It first Renders your video and then secondly Uploads to YouTube. Without checking this properly myself, I suspect the Uploader has not been programmed to render 4K video yet, because this is a relatively new feature on YT.

You have not mentioned which specific version of Vegas Pro or Movie Studio you are using either ?

Your solution is similar to my first answer. Render your video using Render As first. However you will be using a different output format to create 4K video.
Use Sony XAVC / XAVC S (*.mxf,*.mp4) and select a template that matches your original source 4K video’s properties. Once finished rendering, use Upload on YT. I am not an expert on using 4K, but I suspect one of the XAVC S templates would be a better choice for YouTube.

There is an easy solution to your problem – STOP using the YouTube Uploader in Vegas and do the job yourself.

In both Vegas Pro and Movie Studio Platinum, use Render As (Make Movie in Movie Studio) to render your video. The most commonly used output format you can select is Mainconcept AVC/AAC using the Internet 1080p template.

When your video has finished rendering, press Upload button on YouTube and then navigate to My Documents – Movie Studio Platinum or Vegas Pro projects folder – find your video, select it and upload will begin.

January 27, 2015 at 12:00 pm in reply to: Vegas Pro 13 Not Detecting VST Plugins

I had problems with NewBlueFX not showing up once. The problem seemed to be caused by having too many different versions of Vegas Pro and Movie Studio Platinum installed on the same machine. I had 32bit & 64bit versions in the mix as well.

    Solution:
    1. Un-install most older versions of Vegas & MS and only leave the newest 64bit versions of Vegas and Movie Studio installed. Make sure to get rid of 32bit versions if not needed – I think this may have been the actual cause.

    2. Un-install all NewBlueFx products and re-boot computer.

    3. Re-install all NewBlueFx but this time ONLY install the 64bit OpenFX versions. Make sure to deselect all other options that are automatically selected by the NB Installer.

    4. Final step if needed was to perform full program reset, to make sure Vegas cache was cleaned and renewed.
    Do this to reset:
    Turn Vegas Off.
Hold down CONTROL and SHIFT keys at the same time AND ALSO AT THE SAME TIME double click program icon on Desktop to Boot program.
    Window will pop up.
    Select Delete Cache and Yes.
This will restore program to Factory Default Settings.

January 18, 2015 at 1:36 pm in reply to: Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 will not load

    Hi Derek

I experienced something similar to this a while back.
I actually had Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 all installed on the same machine. I discovered that updates to my New Blue Fx collection were responsible. The NewBlue installer offers many different options for installing plugins. 32bit, 64bit, OpenFX, etc…

After un-installing and re-installing all different combinations, I realized it was time to let go of the older versions of Movie Studio. Doing this solved the problem. Now I just have V12(64bit) and V13(64bit) installed.

So I would be looking at any third party effects you may have installed. Having 32bit versions and 64bit versions of the same plugin can be problematic from my experience.

    Regards
    Another Derek 🙂

    Hi Leaf
It sounds like you have “Render Loop Region Only” turned ON by mistake.
This is one of the most common problems people experience.
The setting is near the bottom of the Render As window.
Turn it OFF and re-render and everything will be back to normal.

You don’t need to be in compatibility mode.

    Regards
    Derek.

  • I don’t know every single thing about DVD Architect Pro, but I am pretty confident that what you are experiencing is normal behaviour.

This setting refers only to the Mininum Bit Rate if the video you add to the Project is needs to be recompressed. Which is only going to happen if you import a video that is too large to fit on a BluRay disc.
If you render your video correctly in Vegas Pro first, DVD Architect Pro is not going to re-render it at all. So I don’t think you have anything to worry about at all.
Maybe one of the Gurus here can confirm that what I am saying it correct.

  • Sounds like you have not changed the Disc Format to BluRay disc.
    Go to File – Properties
    First line in window properties.

  • Hi Carlos
I think I know exactly what you mean and what the problem is, after viewing your screen shot.
You need to adjust the settings for your Preview Window.
Right-click window and turn ON “Scale Video to Fit Preview Window”
Now you should see ALL of your images.

I thought you were using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10?
If I had known that you are now using Pro 11, I probably would not have bothered responding as there is already much information about this new version posted on the COW.
Have you actually tried my suggestion using VMS10 first ?
Bringing Vegas Pro 11 into the equation opens up a new can of worms, which I fear will now add to any confusion.

    Hi Adam

I have a YouTube channel called TemporalParadox1 (specialising in Vegas Movie Studio) where I have uploaded video tutorials showing how to set up a project and render to what ever template you need.
The best template to use to get the fastest rendering times is Sony AVC .mp4.
When you “customise” this template, you can select to use GPU Acceleration or the CPU for Rendering Only.
Try both settings, to find out which performs best on your machine.

Windows Media Video (.wmv) encoding is a lot more CPU intensive than using Sony AVC/AAC .mp4.

Remember also that Vegas Movie Studio is only a 32bit program, so even though you now have a 64 bit machine with lots of RAM, this is not all accessible using VMS. This is where Vegas Pro 64 bit makes a big difference.

On your computer setup, I would strongly encourage you to add a 2nd Hard Disc Drive. So one HDD stores your source video files, and the other HDD can store all the projects & videos being created by Vegas. This setup will speed up your processing times, because at the moment you have one HDD reading and writing at the same time. When you have TWO drives, one can be dedicated to reading only and the other to writing only.

    My PC Specs:
    CPU: Intel i7-2600k @ 4.6 GHz
    GPU: Nvidia GTX460
    RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance
Boot Drive: 120GB Solid State Drive
    Storage: 2 x 1TB Hard Disc Drive
Sound Card: Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium
