Can you try to see if Photoshop has the same performance problems as you’re experiencing in the Premiere Pro titler?

In AE, the audio is not represented as a separate track. If you see a speaker icon on the left side of the comp/timeline window, then the audio is there. It’s designed to allow you to hear the audio as you’re building your comp. However, the editing of audio is not a real function of AE and so therefore, we keep the audio separate in Premiere Pro to allow manipulation either in Premiere (a very good audio NLE) or send it to Audition (Adobe’s audio specific application).

I’d try a couple of the standard MPEG2 presets and see if the resulting files have the problem you’re describing. If they don’t, then the problem is likely to do with your settings. If they do, then the first thing I’d do is to clear your cache, trash your preferences.

In Premiere Pro, range select all of the clips that you want to nest in a single AE composition. Then right click and ‘replace with After Effects Composition’
Let me know if that doesn’t work as I describe.

First, I’d file that as a feature request: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
The way to have trailing clips ripple would be to use the speed/duration command which is a right click. There, you can choose to ripple trailing clips.
