Working in RED 2K project. Have gotten good performance knocking down resolution in the source and record monitors. But the Titler is SUPER slow, I mean unbearably. I type, a word, and maybe five seconds occur before it appears on screen. Moving text around is super laggy as well. I think the issue is the 2K project resolution. Any way to turn down the preview / paused resolution in the titler to like 1/8th like you can in the source/record monitors? Any other way to boost performance in this tool?

Don’t want to go to Photoshop because there’s a billion of these super simple lower-thirds, and the client will be changing these through revision rounds.

Can you try to see if Photoshop has the same performance problems as you’re experiencing in the Premiere Pro titler?

How do I get the title into Photoshop from Premiere? I know there is a way, just don’t understand how yet, new to software. Also, again, want to avoid doing titles in third party app.

I did try making titles in a 1024 HD project, and the performance was much better.

I then tried forcing the size of titles to be 1920×1024, and then dropping them into my 4k sequence. Did not go well. Had to resize, then hard to line up, looked pixely….

    Hey Brian,

File>New>Photoshop file is all you need. 😉

Photoshop seems to be able to handle working at 4K resolution just fine. Have not noticed a huge lag. Just within Premiere. But again, there’s so many of these simple supers, I don’t want to get into making them all in Photoshop.

I am having other performance issues, mainly with the split screens that come up doing certain types of trims. See:

If you’re comfortable with Photoshop, then use it. To get around the pain of making the super each time, I’d do the following:

1 – create your super in PSD and flatten it as necessary, keep Photoshop open and the PSD open.
2 – Create new PSD in Premiere Pro. It will open a blank document.
3 – drag your psd title into the blank one.
    4 – finish and save.

    Hope this helps.
