delete the waveform and thumbnail folders from your scratch disk, and blast ALL render files with the render manager thru FCP. Empty trash, and you should be done.
IF it comes back again, click the “forget” checkbox when it tells you the file is missing, and you should be good. -
also, when you’re looking at the still, what is its center postion (in the motion tab). If the y axis isn’t an even #, it may look blurry. This is due to the interlacing of NTSC video. As a rule of thumb I ALWAYS set both x and y axis to even numbers when messing with center positions and keyframing. Consistancy forms habits, you know….

this isn’t for shooting….this is for dubbing/syndication. Tapeless not an option, as we have to deliver to the individual market’s requirements. All tapes are QC’d before being shipped, especially used tapes to check for errors….as for the $3 difference, when you’re talking 1,000+ tapes shipped per year, it adds up in the end.

forget the image stabilizer, and use smooth cam. For color correction, I’d use the 3 way CC to adjust the mids/whites/shadows, desaturate it so it’s black/white to make the critter stand out better. Then maybe a green tint to give a nite vision look and to hide some of the noise and flatness from boosting the shadows and mids as high as i think you’ll need to go.
Color may be a better way to go, but i’m not familiar enough with it to recommend.

When looking at the center coordinates in the motion tab in the viewer window, make sure the graphic’s Y coordinate is an even, whole number.

Can’t you drop a 1 frame still into the very first frame of the movie on the timeline?

You’re looking for expose’. It’s in the OS X system preferences panel. I’ve got mine setup for right side command, option and control, so I don’t have to hunt for an f key

Are you exporting quicktime movie, compressor, or quicktime conversion. If Quicktime movie, make sure it’s set at “current settings”, no markers, and check the box next to make movie self contained. Import the resulting file into compressor and use that to make your mpg, h.264, etc.

FCP allows you to nest sequences inside each other. Make your chapters, and then drop the sequence from the browser into a new sequence….they’ll show up just like any other clip. double clicking the sequence in the timeline will open it up so you can make changes, though be aware that if you lengthen the sequence, you’ll have to change it’s length in your ‘master’ sequence…..also, check that you don’t clip the in/out of the sequences preceding/following the sequence you make changes to.

when you use compressor to make your dvd files, it spits out TWO files. 1 MPEG2, which is your video, and 1 AIFF, for your audio. You have to bring both of these into DVD SP, and place both in the track.
