  • Help! Rendering Images in sequence is blurring them!

Posted by Jonathan Burks on March 13, 2009 at 2:41 pm

I am having some problems with rendering some graphics I’ve created in both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop once I’ve placed them in the sequence. They appear crisp and usable before I set them to render, but once the rendering is complete they go soft and are useless. Am I missing a setting in Rendering controls that can change this? or is this just what I am going to get with this program? PLEASE HELP!

When looking at the center coordinates in the motion tab in the viewer window, make sure the graphic’s Y coordinate is an even, whole number.

And set the Canvas at 100%.
Never use DV as your sequence codec.

Still Blurred. In fact, the video is even a bit blurred when rendered out, it seems like there must be a render preference I can change to fix this…

    Rafael-
Is there another Codec you suggest? looking at this LOOONG list, these settings mean nothing to me?

That blurred look CAN be the result of FCP rendering at lower quality so it can play it in real time, you must judge the results on a bona-fide monitor or at least a TV.

BTW a good codec to render to is ProRes.

    Have a wonderful day.

I’m not finding the ProRes codec installed, and I cannot find that anywhere for download online. Any other advice on how to get rid of this horrible blur?

What is your relase format? what are you going to do with your video program?
Here’s the piece of the video conceptual universe you’re missing: Video is a limited pixel delivery format. The window is 720×480 pixels. That’s all. If you bring in a Photoshop piece that is 2k pixels on a side, it has to be scaled down to fit the video window. Video based on pixels, not vectors. If you bring in vectors from Illustrator they have to be converted to bitmapped pixels.

Video is great fun. You just need to learn how to use it. I’ve been in this business for 40 years and I’m still learning about this digital crap. But you have to begin with a willingness to grasp that video is w-a-y different from print.

    Try 8 bit uncompressed.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Hi Jonathan,

click on your sequence to make it active then go to your sequence settings [cmd] 0, then select the render control tab. Make sure resolution is set to 100%.

    Cheers,
    Rob

I was having the same problem. 8 bit uncompressed worked. GENIUS!
