You can get it from Final Cut if you have a copy. I think it comes down to a licensing issue.

I upgraded to the 8-core a few months ago. And loaded it up with internal hard drives.
They work fine for SD and you can also do compressed HD (dvcprohd) with them. You need to use the DVCPRO HD codec however. The drives didn’t seem fast enough to handle the Media100HDcodec. I seem to remember trying out the motion jpeg b codec in HD as well – and it worked for loading – but seemed to run into problems for render effects. The DVC Pro HD codec would be better though anyway.

I think I read on another post about a week ago on how to set the settings of compressor to avoid the washed out look. Try looking for a post called “DVD’s on MEdia 100 HD” or something like that.

If you are making DVD’s from a Media 100 program, use BitVice or Compressor. They seem to handle the colors from Media 100 the best. If you use just Toast, iDVD, etc you will find everything is washed out.

I did a DVCProHD project a little while ago shot at 720/24p and it worked fine when I edited in 1080i within Media 100 HDe. Different camera but I assume the results would be the same.

I ran into a similar thing with a legacy program which I had brought into HDe. It seemed
to crash when it either hit a transition or a clip that had color fx. It seemed to work fine after I switched from 8 core to 4 core and then I re-rendered (force rendered) the transitions and color fx and titles(which by the way is amazingly fast on the new system). Also I copied the media from the old program into a new program.

I also noticed that after I rerendered all the clips the 8 core seemed to work fine. Though I have kept in on 4 core just to be safe (and it seems like there is a fix on the way).

    Just to chime in…

I just finished a feature on Media 100 – albeit a relatively low-budget indie. I totally agree with everything people have posted about Avid and FCP. Avid is the program to use for cutting features – if nothing else because it is the industry “standard”. Which does make a difference is when you reach the finishing stages or just when dealing with assistants and support staff. It is hard to find people who actually know how to use Media 100 (no matter how easy it is). I think if you are familiar with each of the programs you can handle your media fine… but others won’t necessarily know how to deal with it if they don’t understand the program.

Personally, I just like M100 and its interface and ease of use. Which is why I use it. I am a non-tech person and am not interested in doing compositing or effects within my NLE. What I do need is a steady edit program that remains stable and consistent. So to echo what someone wrote on this thread further, if you can do it on your own then m100 is my personal favorite. If others are involved it can get tricky. Hopefully that will change with the new “charge” M100 seems to be making.

Changing it to from the 8core to 4core definitely helped. Oddly the one program (that I wanted to open) seemed to be the only one it didn’t help completely. What seemed to fix it is if I turned it to 4core, recopied it into a new 720 timeline (a suggestion by the good folks at m100) and then rendered everything – it had tons of titless, color effects and transitions.

    Scan audio is off.
    I am running 11.6.1 on a G5 (10.4.9, 2x3ghz, 8 core, 4 gb ram).
The media is all in SD stored on internal built in SATA drives.
I just did a project in DVC Pro HD on the same drives so I know they are
fast enough – granted this program is an hour and a half long.

Just cut a project on a MacBook pro of those exact specs. It worked flawlessly and was very fast. Reconformed it on an HDe which also worked perfectly.
