Thanks Mike. I did try every model for Panasonic and others. Same results. BTW, I used my Canopus ADVC-50 last night to capture old VHS tape. I was able to use the Premiere capture. I was never able to use the capture software to control the VCR. I have to manually start-stop the VCR. But I am happy with that, at least it works.

Now for the Panasonic issue, my theories are that the 1394 controller in my Intel 915PBL motherboard have compatability issue with Premiere 1394 driver, Panasonic and Premiere also have some compatibility problem.

There is another thread that report of the same issue I have, that is, the Premiere freezes and reboots after running the capture. The only difference is that he said this has never happened before.

Mine is 6.5.2600.2180. I have search the Internet, and from what I gathered the qcap.dll is the Microsoft Codec. Some suggested to switch this codec with a Mainconcept codec. I am not excited on replacing what I have with yours. I already reinstalled XP six times the last two weeks trying to troubleshoot this issue.

    Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I was already having this problem when I only have XP Pro and Premiere Pro 1.5 installed plus the basic drivers on the XP Pro’s default install.

I will check tonight to see my gcap version. I am at work right now.

I posted the same issue today (Sept 21). Premiere Pro functions ok even when the capture is activated; I can move the mouse cursor. As soon as I turn on my Panasonic PV-GS250, the mouse freezes and my computer reboots just like you describe. I can’t capture though.

Let me know how your issue is resolved. Thanks.
