    Thanks for the reply.
I am shooting subjects that are up to 100 feet away. Do you think it would be beneficial t shoot at the larger res if I plan on doing some zooming in in FCP?

been reading all night! With respect to adding QT movies, All I can come up with are a bunch of out of date “plug ins” that dont seem to work very well, or the “videopress” which is kinda like youtube in that it reencodes .

  • Josh, John, thanks for the replies,
Up to this point in my hobbiest learnings , I’ve went with QT pro to encode and create the html to put my vids on the web. The “export for web” feature makes it easy to create the code and the “pointer file” that makes iPhone, and desktop viewing possible.
But as I step up my videos, I see I need to become more familiar with compressor, and html to do the things i want, which is put my movies on the web, without using Youtube, vimeo, etc.
    Thanks Again!

  • Thank you John and Josh.
Of course I need just a little more info. I did go and read some in the compression forum and will continue to do so.
My work flow is, make my movie in FCP, export QT movie not self contained. Then, in QT pro, export for web so I have all my html ( which i’m not good at!). Where do i set the data rate?
Or should I export from FCP using QT conversion, and I assume I can limit mt my data rate there in the “settings” option under “limit Data rate” and trying different “compression slider” positions? But when I “export for web” in QTpro , wont that covert it again, reducing quality?

    Thanks , Dean

  • Hallelujah Josh!
I’m at work , and the connection is slow, that must be it. in the last two hours, I’ve had three friends with PCs update their QT and now they have no problems with my new , longer movie. I had made fun of them for being PC users in the process while trouble shooting with them ! Mean while I started with the ?mark!!
Any way thanks, I’ll look at downsizing the movie,
    Dean
