  • Same issue with this update. First I had to rename all of my .mov files to get both video and audio on import into project. Prior to renaming, only audio would import. Now that I have the media in the job, the playback is laggy and slow. Looking for help.

How about it…any luck resolving this? Am really frustrated as well. Would like to do a multicam edit, but don’t feel it should need a render. I suspect it is something basic, though I can’t find it.

David, would you walk me through the process? I have been converting my HD timeline to DV/DVCPro 50 NTSC and inputing into a 4×3 timeline with a -33.33 resize. I then output via compressor to an M2V. Is this wrong. Could I drop a step in this process and lean on DVD SP to do the letterboxing for me?

I seem to get a good deal of moire and I am trying to avoid this. The footage was shot on a Panasonic HDX900 960/720 24p.

    Thanks for your help.

January 8, 2008 at 4:23 pm in reply to: From 720p/23.98 timeline to SD DVD…suggestions?

Help! I have lost it. I have burnt countless DVD’s in trying to resolve this same issue.

I have a 720p timeline (960×720). I want it to play on a 4×3 monitor with black on top and bottom (letterboxed) so the whole picture is viewable. The only way I have found to achieve this is with nesting it into a standard def timeline.

This can’t be the case. What am I missing? In DVD SP i have selected the 16×9 Pan & Scan- plays full screen- so I don’t get the left right landscape. I have selected 16×9 Letterbox- same result, full screen no left/right. I have selected 4×3…result is a squished image.

Should something have been done in Compressor to head this off? Or, can this be resolved in DVD Studio Pro?

Thanks for your help…am on deadline and ready to nest in a quicktime to a SD timeline…but I don’t like doing it this way.

  • Thanks for you help. Not really sure why not anamorphic. Not familiar with the process I suppose. Out of necessity I was going to fiddle with anamorphic settings next. I do want to have a non-anamorphic file for on-line use. But, I will want a smaller screen size for this. So, that will be a separate compression.

Do you have suggestions for making anamorphic work?

  • We can talk about it, or we can just do it….

DVD Studio Pro seems to size it right and make it work.

I was double clicking the .m2v file and getting a squeezed preview. I should be good now.

    Thanks. dk

  • Thanks Walter, I have checked out the forum and have not found anything that clearly helps me.

This may be because I put the timeline through Compressor and have never seen a clean 16×9 image in the end. Meaning, I would need to rely on DVD Studio Pro to make it right by resizing it. Is this the case, does DVD Studio Pro “correct” the image to play 4×3 letterbox?

I realize this may seem redundant/basic, though I am struggling with it and need assistance. I appreciate your help.
