Thank you Nate for the suggestion. It does not look very natural that way.
We have tried the same thing in a green screen studio in Holland, while monitoring on a Mac with the used background. The result was perfect and looked very real. The Mac was owned by the studio. Now I’m stuck with a pc without Firewire. I think the Firewire is needed for the live feed. I don’t think you can pull that off with a USB connection on a pc notebook
I did this before on my old pc (sold it) and that worked (only while the HVX was in SD recording mode because Adobe Ultra wouldn’t except a HD signal). Maybe I’ll find a way in the near future…I want to learn…

Thank you Michael,
This camera has USB for PC and Firewire for Mac, that’s right. Mainly for moving the content of the P2 card on the PC. For live feed though, I can’t find what I need in the manual.I want to learn…

Thanks Noah,
Yes, but it would be great to be able to monitor (and only that) the talent that is walking (following a path on a background still image) in the green screen studio. Just to guide her to follow that path exactly.
I understand that this is still an issue. As far as I know, many people are looking for a sollution for similar situations. Shure, I red about
Adobe OnLocation and Lensfeed but I only need a way to put the background behind the talent when live feed. But if there’s no way to hook up the HVX-200 on this laptop for this, I guess I don’t have too look any further.

That’s right James. I forgot to look up the small letters at the end
of a long list of this and thats. I should have seen them. Too many issues with Raymaker. As Steve says, I hate that. It’s back to cineform for me.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, it could be a Raylight codec itself. You are also right about those updates. I sent an e-mail to Marcus about these issues but no answer yet. I also use Cineform HD link but there is also something strange going on with the converted files and Vegas 9. Did not have that problem in Vegas 8 (windows XP).Still, it seems a bit strange to me that I can’t find any remarks about this problem on the internet. I know that many people use Raylight Ultra and Sony Vegas 9.
When a solution reaches me, I will make a note of it here.

Sorry for the late response.

I have found the settings in the manual. Still not shure about:
-The difference between ‘Letterbox’ and ‘Squeeze’. Is Letterbox a true 16:9 or does it just but the black bands on the footage?
– The small black line on top of the footage (recorded in 4:3) when viewed in Sony Vegas.
Thank you.

Yes Noah. That was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for helping me on this. I will do some surfing on the adapters you suggested. I need one of those.
Thanx !! -
I know what happened.
I have changed the cineform setting to Film scan (before that the setting was “high” in HDlink) in sony vegas. When I checked the prefs in HD link it seems like it took over that film scan setting. The manual states that the film scan setting is best used when you are planning to use fx on your hd footage. I plan to use video fx on every clip in this project. I just ask myself if it is useful to convert to cineform intermediate with film scan setting if this makes
your files bigger or at least as big as the original.
