March 10, 2022 at 7:40 pm in reply to: Can you adjust the line spacing on the typewriter effect?Actually, the answer is to select the text in the viewer, then the adjust slider will work. You just can’t adjust it without selecting the text. Which is actually better, since you can select individual lines of text and adjust it independently of the rest.

Well, they did finally restore the ability to copy and paste from a quicklook text document. I really missed that the most.

August 26, 2013 at 7:00 pm in reply to: Occasional Problem with x264, blacks breaking upJust to follow up to my own question (in case anyone else has the same issue). I discovered that the problem only occurs with Mac OS Quick Look function in the finder. When I view the video in a stand alone player, such as Quicktime or VLC, I see no problems with the video. This may be a problem with the decoding function of the latest Quicktime (v8?). But as a side note, I know this is not specifically isolated to just Quicktime. I sent a spot to a cable outfit (which I know is PC based) and they complained about the same problem. BUT, any video that shows this issue in the quicklook preview, I can upload to Youtube and it shows no problems whatsoever.

Well, for those that may be interested, I just did it old school, with two layers. One angled for the ground and one for the wall. I just matched their moves up by hand, pretty much similar to my diagram. It’s not perfect, but it goes fast enough that it’s really hard to notice. I was going to add a little bounce to the figure as he moved to simulate walking but hey, it’s a cable insertion ad after all! Finished spot below:

I really encourage you to use the x264 encoder, the quality and size is outstanding! It’s very easy to install and then just use the “export with quicktime conversion” option and select the x264 codec.
Andy Beach has easy to follow instruction here, only takes a second. He gives details how to set up pre-sets in compressor, but I just use Quicktime to export, now if I could only get my old version of Visual Hub to use the x264 codec.

Shane, I know this thread is a hundred years old, but do you have any new ideas about map fly-in’s. I’ve created a few using AE and NASA sat images ( I think video co-pilot has a tut on this), and I’m not sure that I really like all the hoops you have to jump through to use Google Maps (they are not very pretty either). I was looking for an easier solution. Any new thoughts, do you still have a “map” guy you could recommend?

True, you don’t lose your copyright, but as long as they host your video you give them complete use of the video with no claim to any residuals they may make from it. It’s just the price you pay for using their system.

Peter, Yes, I’m aware that Joomla is a CMS, but as you said, the video player is a plugin for it. One video player plug-in in particular on WordPress doesn’t take into consideration the extra 20 pixels for the player controls, so you have to add 20 pixels to the height of the video for it to display in the original size.
As for YouTube and Vimeo, if you don’t mind their branding and terms of use (i.e. signing over complete rights of use) then they have a very easy to use system for displaying video.

I’ve had great results lately using x264. see this post on using it instead of H.264:

Also, you should check to see if the videos are being resized in the player. If you’ve encoded them at 320×240 and they are being scaled up or down via the player, that could also cause your quality to suffer. One bit of advice I’ve learned is to keep the dimensions as multiples of 16, as described here:
