January 9, 2008 at 5:12 pm in reply to: Suddenly my Brushes and Eraser are not working properlyThank You for your response. I had tried resetting the brushes but to no avail. What I have found out is that if I select Basic Brushes, then everything works but many from the other brush sets simply do not work either in Brush mode or Eraser.

Oh yes of course….drghhhhhhh!! I tend not to use chapter actions preferring individual files but this project lent itself. I was so chuffed that the replacement files had updated, I missed they were yellow in the original project
Thank you for recharging my Braincell.

Thanks for the advice on this – I had to do the psd’s manually as the buttons had been added from within Encore to the supplied artwork backgrounds(which had no buttons) as such Encore would not replace the files. Job done…eventually.

Joe, these options are greyed out on PSD’s and you cannot replace a m2v asset with one of the same name. Am I missing something?
-
OK sorted – the label box was remaining greyed until rebooted. Most Odd.

Joe if you email me david@dsvp.co.uk I will give you a link.
I have another question – today the client wanted to re-tweak the size of Text layers. When I did this yesterday and made layer comps and over wrote the files on re-opening the project the menus updated- today they would not- Are there some hidden cahed files that effect this- tried in the source folder without success.. If it hadnt been for the problems with the 48 layer PSD of course I would have opened from Encore in CS2 and then selected similar layers etc- no chance had to rework each one in Encore PIA!!!!
-
Yes 43 including the hidden layers.
The error message was that something was abnormal (the user???) and I had one chance to save, this message corresponded to the number of menus – so I would get 11 and then a Dear Bill Gates message.
As said I made the layer comps and then after doing a test thinking I was going to consider flattening, I just deted anything not used for each menu.
Another thing I encountered was each menu layer has 10 buttons linking to 9 menus and one TL- when I was de-bugging I noticed that when linking the buttons, to the drop down, the names did not corresond to the link. So Menu David/button Joe was actually linking to Button Pete- despite selecting Joe. I eventually linked via the specify other drop down.
In fact the more I think about it I guess it was not a good weekend to give up Southern Comfort. -
About 43 which I would not have thought was excessive.
A Flattened BG
10 Text layers as buttons
1 text layer as First play
1 text layer as title which could have been flattened
10x Rollover each with 3 layers-picture with glow etc, text button and info text -
Thank you for your prompt response. That’s a pity and given the Power of Encore.

I would offer a different approach. Having experimented with various methods…..IGNORE the 16×9 issue.
Import the BG image or AVI as is – it will be squished but dont worry.
Work over that BG and remove BG (I prefer to bring alpha’d AVI’s over my original footage) – Save and render TGA. Import TGA sequence to AE within a 4×3 composition render AVI in 4×3 YES 4×3.
Now when you take the AVI – in my case a Canopus Lossless with Alpha, into the Editing App, simply change its properties to 16×9
DONE! In Edius this is two mouse clicks.I realise I am in the company of some real graphics Gurus here -dare I suggest my way is 16×9 for Dummies -like me!
