that’s right…i knew that. With Velocity i never captured via firewire, only component using a DV deck, so i could set bit rate.

it helped, a bit. Have i been looking at HD footage (EX-1) for so long that i forgot how DV looked? Is 3.6 standard rate for DV? That’s kinda low, no? Is there no way to customize the capture rate?

i don’t have CB in front of me, but i think you name the CLIP section what you want to name it, then there might be a settign where you choose to export the clip with the CLIP name used instead of the original name that was attached to the clip when it was first recorded. I’ll get in front of it and check it out…

how do i change field order of a specific clip?

I was reading the FCP manual and they recommend converting i footage to de-i using Compressor. This would entail re-editing that 8 minute segment, which i suppose i could do, then start over with a 1920×1080 P sequence. How that sound? Unless your method works better.

I just got this little camera too! Kinda neat, in a cracker jack kind of way. So i convert this footage in Compressor to the ProRes you speak of?

  • i figured that, i just didn’t want there to be any issues that might compromise some video with hte EX-1.

  • thanks again. I’m at a slight disadvantage over here cause i’m a one man show who often relies on non-professionals to run boom for me. Needless to say, they often treat it like a broom stick.

  • sorry about not being able to post pic. Been crazy busy over her and not feeling so hot on top of that. Yeah, the 15″ mic does have a rather narrow pick-up pattern. I mainly use if for documentary-style shooting, where a group of people are talking, un-scripted, to the camera more or less. Sometimes to each other. The boom pole, thus, gets moved around a lot and noise from the bands gets picked up on the mic.I’m almost certain it’s from the mic bouncing up and down ever so slightly.

That’s why i was looking at that Rode NTG2. It’s shorter. lighter and has wider pick-up range.
