The animation codec is an old and inefficient codec requires lots of throughput for seamless playback, are you simply dropping frames during playback because your hard drives don’t have the necessary throughout?

I’m really reaching here Oliver, as I have no tangible experience with the exact variables you’re dealing with now. That being said, if I were you, at some point I would consider backing up the RAID, then reformatting it under your latest version of Yosemite. There just might be some minor bit or byte that’s been changed in the formatting or configuration that makes a difference. I have encountered stuff like this in the past.

Or, get an app like Apple Motion ($50) that includes a zillion different text animations and behaviors that do this type of stuff in a multitude of different ways, both simple and complex.

“Yes, take Forest’s advice on this, but do check to make certain 5.1 surround is NOT a requirement. Many broadcasters and distributors do demand 5.1, and whether you had planned for it or not is inconsequential to them.

I understand that Jess, and I would like to be king of the world, but that doesn’t mean it will happen. As Ryan and I both tried in our own ways to tell you, you don’t have the hardware necessary to monitor surround, so whether you want to learn to to it yourself it is inconsequential, because you simply can’t do without the proper tools. FYI, 99.9% of all editors don’t have surround sound capabilities in their edit bay(s), and Ryan and I know that – the fact that you don’t know that is why you’re asking for help and seem to be arguing with me.

If you’re asking you probably have never done a 5.1 surround mix, and you most assuredly don’t have the five speakers, subwoofer, etc. required to monitor a surround mix. So, you’re going to have to take your project to a professional facility that has 5.1 surround mixing capability.

What do you mean by audio is “constantly conforming?” Sorry, but even after 40+ years in the biz that does not compute.
Also, there’s hardly any detail about your workflow that would help us to help you. As this is a business of precision, in order to pinpoint your issues precisely, at the very least we’ll need to know details of the video codec(s) your working with, and the sequence settings of your project.

It seems you’ve already figured out that creating graphics, FX, and making moves on 1080 proxies is going to be a BIG problem. And yes, it’s going to be a %$#@ing nightmare. Absolutely do make 4K proxies, it’s the ONLY way to preserve all of your precise graphics, scaling, re-positioning, and animation.
The best rule of thumb whenever doing offline/online workflows is: always use the same pixel dimensions and frame rate whenever possible, or you will be in for a world of hurt.
