Tell us more about his hard drive configuration. Is he trying to capture to a Firewire drive also hooked up directly to his G5?

If this is all you want it for don’t worry about the specs, just get something that looks good to your eye.
A DLP will get you more bang for the buck simply because rear screen projection sets are bigger at the same price point as their LCD and plasma counterpoints.DRW

How big is your hard drive? 30gbs available is not very much. That is more than likely the problem.
