I think the person you’re dealing with is confused. If you are able to get them to clarify what they perceive as an issue, please do share with us – I can’t wait to hear this one.
Since the bitrate of each of the Pro Res versions is essentially set in stone and not user definable, it simply makes no sense. It would be like saying we want Avid DNX 135 to be the same file size as DNX 185.

It sounds like you’ve done everything 100% correctly Greg. Unless they need, or think they need, a Pro Res HQ master, I can’t imagine what they want.
It is possible they might be using another, perhaps more modern encoder, like Sorenson, with more options than Compressor, but short of that, I don’t think any of the knowledgeable editors here would have done things any differently than you’ve done.
So, I think you need to quiz the client for more info to determine precisely what they think they need.

You said pgn, may we assume you REALLY meant .png?
If so, try exporting a new file that supports an alpha channel, from Photoshop, such as .tga, .tiff, etc., and see if that helps.

Not enough info provided Greg… You told us the specs they want, but not the specs you were working with.
Precisely how did you export? (You may assume we know the steps, but we don’t know your steps.)
And, what precisely were the timeline settings before you exported?
Finally, what are the precise specs of the media you were editing from the Canon camera? (You said it was on a Pro Res timeline, but you made no reference to the media itself.)

Actually, let me revise what I wrote above…
What are the specs of you sever? How many drives? Connectivity? How many client machines attached?

A single hard drive is simply not going to have the throughput to playback the heavy demands of video, especially a complex timeline. The hard drive subsystem of your NLE is one of its major engines, unfortunately seldom appreciated my most users, who simply fail to understand that a RAID with a great deal of extra overhead is NOT a luxury for smooth playback with video intensive applications, but a necessity.
Unfortunately, because most people in this business today are REALLY cheap (blame the democratization of video that has made it so difficult to make money), most discussions about media drives come at the matter from the standpoint of the minimum necessary requirements, never mentioning the enormous benefits of extra system overhead.
In summary, keep this important rule of thumb in mind: “Every time you double the number of spinning disks in a stripe set (a RAID), you effectively double the throughput.”

Okay, you’ve described what you perceive as an issue, and you’re looking for our help to fix it, but you haven’t given us any information about how the audio was actually recorded, nor what you’re expecting or hoping for when you import the video. Most here are not mind readers…

Hi Caroline,
Actually, Compressor is for encoding your video to MPEG 2 and audio to AC3, then you use those files in DVD Studio Pro to build your DVD with menus, etc. And yes, given virtually all manufacturers have given up on DVD creation, your best bets are indeed Compressor and DVD Studio Pro, used in tandem.
I hate making DVDs with menus, because it’s hard to get paid for the amount of time required to get them finished with the precision clients want. However, if you struggle to accomplish the mission and decide to farm out the DVD creation, let me know and I’ll give you a reasonable bid on the job.
