Weird advice from Adobe Tech Support
I just had email exchange with one Vinay who is apparently a bigshot at Adobe PP Tech Support in India. Here it is below. I had asked him for advice on the most compatible Mac OS to use with a fresh installation of Premiere Pro CC 2014.
Vinay: “Hi Harry, Yes, you can go directly to Yosemite 10.10.2, which seems to be working fine. Also, please do not use time machine for any kind of backup and do a fresh installation of all the applications.”
Me: “I should not use Time Machine to back up my system and applications drive? Wow … ? Huh?”
Vinay: “Yes, if possible avoid it for the system files as it may write the old OS files into new one and which might create issue.”
Can any of you fine happy editors confirm this startling piece of information? And, further, is Vinay correct in stating that Yosemite 10.10.2 is a good idea?
If not Yosemite, would someone be good enough to advise me on what is the most stable Mac OS to use with PP 2014? I am in the middle of changing setup to a Mac Pro 8 Core. 4,1 (2009) 3.33 Ghz and will be using (for the moment) an Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 CUDA graphics card.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Best, Harry.
