I found my answer. Focus Enhancements makes a FS HD Converter that does the job perfectly. It was so easy – perfect conversion.

    Thanks FOCUS

Yes, it is just a scrambled image. I believe the clip has no codec wrapper. I can read it in MainConcept Reference, Windows Media Player
but it is just scrambled in Quicktime.

Well, I would need 45 – 32 gig P2 cards to do the job. How much does 45 cards rent for?

October 28, 2008 at 8:24 pm in reply to: 422 ProRes vs HQ vs uncomprressed video

    Thank you Gary,

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I have been off the forum for awhile. I guess my question was not clear. It is not so much the difference between ProResHQ and uncompressed as Live vs. either codec.

I do have an Intel Mac Pro and the picture I am looking at live from my switcher is uncompressed, unrecorded HD and beautiful. However, just like an audio signal recorded is not the same as a live signal I was interested in getting as close as possible to a live signal. I just did not know if there were any benefit to recording in uncompressed video and, I guess there is not.

    Thank you for your time.

September 9, 2008 at 9:51 pm in reply to: Advantages of IO HD for P2 Cameras?

For me the reason I use the IOHD is to take a live HD switch of 4 HVX200 cameras and get a great ProRes HQ picture. This works especially well for a live cut of a long event and then use P2 cards, Firestore or Citidisk to record the ISO on the separate cameras. However, if I am just using one camera on a job I would not bother with the extra equipment as DVCpro HD is fine for most everything else.

    Hi,

I have often had this problem. Could be a couple of things. I would guess that if you can hear internal speakers your Audio/video settings are not correct. The output must be IO/HD on the audio as well as your video setting on the AJA. Also, your system preferences must select the IO/HD. Sorry if these are simplistic but it seems to be a common issue. Also, after you set these go back and check if your external video is set to All Frames.

    Hi,

I am using Panasonic HVX-200 which do not have genlock. The best I can do is put them on freerun and lock them that way. They record to a citi disk through FW for back up. Each camera goes out HD component to the switcher which has internal frame sync. That signal goes to the IOHD and to the Mac. THe audio is fed separately to the AES/EBU inputs. I get a live switch and then use the ISO files for back up.

I would like to be able to mix the audio and sync it to the IOHD in post. I can however skip all the sync and slate it but I want the audio not to drift. I have not had a problem to this point but everyone says I need to lock all the components. I have video ref out and LTC out and in on my Pyramix DAW. I have LTC and VIdeo in and out of the IOHD but I have not been able to sync the two. Then there is the switcher. I don’t see a difference if I have it in Internal or BBST or BBAT or Triax. In HD should I be using Tri sync?

    Thank you,

    David

July 26, 2008 at 10:49 pm in reply to: No Component out in 10.5.4

Looks like it has to go back to AJA again. This is the 4th IOHD that they have sent me. One had FW problems, one No component out, one no Red channel component in.

The composite does not work, no component, HDMI is OK. Maybe it is time to give up on this box and get a Kona 3. I was hoping it would be a software issue but if yours works in 10.5.4 then it must be my unit.

    Thanks for all your help

The Looping is the audio problem. When I play back it plays a few seconds of audio and then keeps repeating it over and over stuck in a short loop.

I am not getting any component video through the bars in the control panel. I will un-install it again.

    THanks for everyones help.
