you need to render the sequence!

That is because because your footage probably doesnt have the same settings as your sequence. right click in your sequence then settings and there you will see diferent presets you can choose from, choose the one matching your footage and it wont say unrendered.

Another way could be just rendering that footage on that sequence you are using but this will work only depending of the settings of the sequence but just try rendering the sequence presing alt + r see what happens…

  • Well for your monitor issue i havent got an answer but as for the DVD i can tell u what i do:

Extract the data from the DVD using Cinematize pro aplication. It lets u choose the exact part u want and not the whole DVD.and also save it on a uncompressed quicktime.

    Hope it helps!

i rendered out of maya with the PAL 50 field preset and then in AE in the interpret menu i told AE that was 50 frame per second, rendered that out as a quiktime with PNG compression with alpha and voila smoth and sexy animation on a external monitor.

id like to thank matt cue,Dave LaRonde and Chris Wright for there advice!

Hey Dave thanks for the fast reply, thats actually something i dont look at very much: Frame rates, as i usually only do 3d stills and the footage i get is always DV never cineon ( i wish it was cineon).

I actualy didnt know the first wit, its interesting, but as i live in Spain i always deal with PAL 25 frames and thought maybe maya was exporting 24 frames with the CCIR Quantel PAL ( as it doesnt say anything in maya about the frame rate , or probably i havent found the place )

Anyways its a pleasure to read the “to wits” i will keep in mind to check the frame rate first , thanks again

Hey Dave thank you for answering, sorry maybe i didnt explain myself, i do go from maya to AE with the TIFF sequence, what i export from FC is the video footage im going to integrate the 3d in, but as i just said to matt im starting to think its not a field problem…maybe a frame rate problem or just shity animation from my part.

and i havent actually read the help section for that( i know i should have )but i will read it right know thanks for the link 😉

hey matt, thanks for taking the time to answer, ive tried doing what you said and im actually starting to think its not about fields…

the thing is when i do it like that it loads in final cut with the shift fields filter on +1 and the fields are really wrong i change it none and it looks like it did before…

it might be a frame rate thing, when i export from maya it doesnt say anywhere nothing about frame rate im using the CCIR PAL Quantel PAL, does anybody know if it uses 24 or 25 frames?

in after effects it interprets it as 25 ,actually im going to play with that and see if tumble upon the problem…

    thanks! Regards Dave
