I was thinking more of a miniature museum. Of course you could try to display those shiny discs in an antique store much like they did with those clunky computers and big box monitors like in Back To The Future II.

I predict two things in the next major update: a role based mixer and VR capabilities. Make that three as there could be video lanes.

My prediction for the new Mac Pro will be a Borg cube design that stacks together like Lego blocks for adults.

I will be working with some 4K footage. Just recently purchased a Go Pro Hero 5 Session camera. It can record in HD as well which is what I will likely use. Is an additional card required to set up a RAID for internal drives? That would probably meet my needs for now though the eSATA solution will be better. Thank you both for answering my question. This was my original plan but a second opinion is always good to have.

I completely agree with you. I just sent Apple some feedback and sincerely hope they will implement that feature. Of course it is possible to add folders and store keywords in there. It just seems counterintuitive dragging a clip to the keyword. Not sure why Apple has not considered this earlier. Would be really nice to create your keywords first then batch tag clips later.

May 10, 2017 at 8:35 pm in reply to: FCPX 10.3 Bugs

Two very annoying bugs I have encountered:

The first is when I change a video role on oneclip in the event browser it changes the video role of another clip or the video role field is empty.

The other annoying bug is using smart collections. For example, when looking for footage with roles I get a message saying there are no clips matching the criteria. This only happens when I choose “all” as opposed to “any” in the role section.

    Other things:

Date created is wrong with Go Pro footage
Clips were transcoded with Edit Ready prior to importing into FCPX
    Using Final Cut 10.3.3

Tetris is my favorite video game unless tracks are involved.

Thank you Simon! Will be posting over in the Fusion forum because I will have some questions. The frame size video you posted has been very valuable and helpful.

I am giving Fusion a try. I love working with nodes as they are very flexible. There is still the bottleneck of the Fusion Clip Connection (whatever it is called). Resolve has to do some rendering, then you have to wait for Fusion to open and then you have to render again for everything to update back in Resolve. I don’t think that was ever an issue with a Premiere Pro and After Effects workflow though Dynamic Link has it its own set of issues. I was really hoping the Resolve and Fusion workflow would be improved.

Resolve does have better playback performance but one still has to render out effects otherwise choppy playback happens. Never had that issue in Final Cut Pro or at least it is very minor. Too bad Apple dropped Shake from the pipeline.

If you can get your hands on a used dongle you should be able get the Studio version (in beta) from the BMD website. Going forward I don’t know how the licensing will work. I wish there was better news for you.
