This seems like a good place to start listing bugs as you run across them. So far I’ve hit these intermittent UI bugs:

    1. Occasionally the playhead loses focus on which is the active pane in dual display set-ups. You’ll be in the timeline and it quits updating video on the viewer as you skim. That’s because focus has shifted to the browser. Click into the browser and back into the timeline to refresh. This is an old bug, BTW.

    2. File names in the browser in List View disappear when you click on the name, leaving a blank field. Close and relaunch fixes this. Also cmd-0 is supposed to refresh it as well.

    3. The VU meter panel occasionally quits displaying bars. Close the VU meters panel and reopen to reactivate.

    4. The VU meter panel also doesn’t retain its adjusted size if you have reduced the width. When you close and reopen FCPX, the VU meters are really wide. Updating the workspace has no affect on this

Backups not working here for updated Libraries and flaky for new Libraries created in 3.0

I don’t know if this is a bug or what:

I opened a 10.2.2 library with music in it with assigned role MUSIC. In the update Library I opened a sequence, opened the audio lanes, but there was no music in the music lane. The rol had been changed to a subrole Music-1, a subrole for music. But for some reason it did not show in de Music Audio Lane but was part of the Dialogue Audio Lane. And the only way to get it into the Music Audio Lane was to change the role in the sequence per clip.

Is this a bug? And is it possible to change the roles of ALL music clips in one go? Because I found it impossible to do in the Index… it helps me spot them quickly, using the subrole… but to change them all in one go so they would show up in the Music Audio Lane, I couldn’t find a way to do that.

But apart from that, why doesn’t a Music Subrole not show up in the Music Audio Lane?

[Mike Warmels] “I opened a 10.2.2 library with music in it with assigned role MUSIC. In the update Library I opened a sequence, opened the audio lanes, but there was no music in the music lane. “

From what I’ve seen, changing roles in the Event does not update those clips that are already in a project (sequence). These will retain their previous role assignment. You have to manually update those as well.

Highlight them all in the timeline, open the inspector and change the role. I think now you can right click as well. Was there another way to apply roles? That’s how I’ve always done it whether it be browser or timeline. I rarely apply roles anywhere but the timeline. Just for final output of discreet audio. I

Yeah, well highlighting is the issue, isn’t it. Since they are among the many actual dialogue clip, I have to individually select the music tracks in the tetris jumble.

I do apply roles beforehand, because if done later, you might always forget one. I certainly would I think, most of my projects are rather complex. And I would;t want to cause problems with the audio mixers later on. It’s the roles they depend on without having tracks. Otherwise sorting the audio in the audio studio becomes very laborious and expensive. (which is often does anyway with FCPX).

For me the point of roles is to get overview of the audio. And to save time I’d rather select all my music and assign the roles than to assign roles to each clip I add to the timeline. FCPX can be very time consuming as it is in checking an assigning audio settings beforehand. When I’m cutting, I want to be cutting… not adjusting settings. But that’s just me.

So to me, I’d prefer roles to change in the timeline as well, although I know a lot of FCPX editors don’t. But… I still don’t get why I can’t get the Music-1 subrole to show up as a Music role… or to change it into a separate role. Because it does have one, but the timeline considers it “Dialogue’. Weird.

Another UI issue. Working in the default workspace. As I go through browser clips in the list view, the name and/or number field text frequently goes blank. Then pops up again when I click on the next clip. It’s random, but a fairly often occurrence. Should have been caught in QA testing.

I am experiencing a drag-lag. This may be a bug, it sure seems like it.

When I try to mouse drag a clip, I get a lag of about 2.5 seconds.
After the first time, consecutive mouse drags do not lag as much, until I scroll the timeline and then try to drag another clip.

You can see an example here
