  • I have been curious about Blender and considering it. Just a few quick questions if I may.

    1. What is the learning curve?
    2. Looking at motion graphics in Motion but wanting to know how well the two “integrate” with each other.
    3. I am also interested in Nuke as an alternative.

The Final Cut Pro X or not forum is both informative and entertaining.

  • [Brett Sherman] “I like AE, but part of what I find problematic about the CC is that Adobe seems to be kicking occasional users like me to the curb.”

    I agree with you there.

New version of Final Cut Pro X and Mac Pro is exciting yet no announcement of plans for Motion going forward. I am considering a FCP X, Motion, Resolve and Nuke workflow. Fusion looks like another option for After Effects but only runs on Windows at the moment.

A ping pong ball is nice but what about the infamous spinning beach ball?

[larry towers] “Loser. Complete loser. A mac mini on steroids.”

I can see a new forum coming and it will be a debate on whether to go with the Mac Pro or something else. It will be interesting for sure.

Can we upgrade the video card? Can we add an external DVD drive? Why does this “thing” look like something of a Star Trek movie? Inquiring minds, mine included need to know! At least it will be made in the USA, have to give them credit for that.

Thanks for the post. Wondering what Final Cut Pro X would have looked like back then.

  • I am really starting to like Final Cut Pro X but it needs further development.

    For starters:
Bring back the round-trip between Final Cut Pro X and Motion 5
    Keep audio and video separate
Give us the option of being to disable connected clips
As for Motion the ability to parent layers, have null objects and expressions would be helpful
Do away with the group feature and make it like After Effects and gives the option having pre-comp and multiple comps, would make more complicated projects easier to manage

    What is nice:
Building a custom template, title, effect and transition in Motion for later use in Final Cut Pro X, a big advantage over having to dynamic link between P Pro and AE just to make a transition

Those are just a few thoughts. Oh, please don’t go to a cloud based scenario.

[Greg Andonian] “So, Adobe still has the ball, for now. But First down is a mile away and they may have to settle for a long field goal. With the wind blowing toward them.”

That has to be the best analogy so far. The wind guest is at least 40 mph right now, this will be one tough field goal. Will they go for it?

Here is my pitch to Adobe:

Please give us the option of get perpetual license up front at a lower price point, the option of getting individual applications or the entire suite and the ability to opt-in for ongoing and unlimited technical support with a fee of $30 a month with the first year mandatory. The fee could also go to major updates, not upgrades, minor updates with no fee. After that your customer can decide if they want to continue with ongoing technical support or the option of pay for support when needed.

This is simply an idea, would like to know what others think.

    Happy editing!

  • There is also Motion for $50 with no monthly subscription required.
    🙂
