How are you trying to interface the balanced XLR outputs from the mixer
with the mic inputs on the GL2? -

I was not able to view the video, but in the story there was no mention of using the Canon EF adapter.
The trend for shooting music videos when the budget won’t allow for 35mm,
is to rent something along the lines of the P+S Technik Mini35, along with say a couple of Cooke S4 prime lenses
to give a 35mm style depth of field to the shoot.
Using the Canon EF adapter with it’s 7x multiplication factor does not look the same.[Jeff Newton] “would think that using a EF lens with full manual control would give you more of that”
Then again, you can switch your current XL2 lens into manual.
By the way, the Canon 3x lens is not an anamorphic lens.

Also, what music video are you talking about,
and what about the video gives the impression that it has the look of film? -
Since you own Cubase, you could always use midi to record any style beats or patterns you like.
Then assign the drum sounds you like from one of the many VST instruments within Cubase. -

How large is your studio, and what is the power distribution situation? -
For what it is worth, I went round and round with Apple because of problems with a dual 1.8 G5.
Replaced everything in the computer, some components twice before they offered a replacement computer.
After reading, and then confirming that there are inherent problems with the 1.8 platform,
Including a known problem with the PCI bus, I decided to pay the difference and get a dual 2.0 G5.
Apple upgraded the video card as a gesture because of all my down time.
The dual 2.0 G5 has had no problems what so ever, and all the RAM that would not work properly in the 1.8
works great in the 2.0.Good Luck!

If I remember correctly, the Sennheiser MKH 40 has a pad switch.
You might use it instead of the pad on the Marantz.
