What do you consider broadcast quality?
If it was DV25 footage he could fit 3 minutes on a CD.
Or if it was 8-bit SD he could fit a little over 30 seconds on a CD.
And if it was 10-bit SD he could fit around 24 seconds on a CD. -
Footage from an AG-DVX100a looks pretty good.
But IMHO, the biggest problem you will face with a regional broadcast on PBS
will be the recompression of 5:1 DV material to the Media 100 @ 150kb.
Many a show has been rejected by PBS because of improper blanking width
and compression artifacting from older media 100 systems running @ 150kb.Good Luck with your shoot!

Attenuation is the opposite of amplification.
It’s basically a reduction of signal strength, or turning down the input level.“How and why would you use it on the XL2? ”
Say you are recording a concert where the volume is very loud, and the audio level is overloading.
You could flip the little switch marked Mic Attn. and then manually adjust the input level until a proper signal is reached. -
You need a video switcher, and something along the lines of a chyron.

From the EF adapter Manual… “When an EF lens for 35 mm is mounted on a 1/3inch CCD image sensor camcorder, the focal length will increase by 7.2 times (in 35mm equivalent).” -
My response was not meant to be pissy.
When I said “we” I was referring to myself, and the other videographers/cinematographers that work for me.
We shoot with manual lenses in 90% of the shoots we do.
And when we have to use a lens that is an auto-focus unit, I have the shooter switch it into manual mode.
I would rather have a cinematographer use his or her experience in choosing the focal point instead of an inanimate object making that call. -

You might think about getting something along the lines of a Beachtek DXA-4P audio adapter for your GL2.
It would be a more effective way to run balanced audio, Mic or line level into your camera without
ground loops or impedance mismatches.
