Yes, but I’m not sure I understood what you meant so here’s both answers …

To change the radius of the rounded corners only without changing the overall size of the mask (i.e., reducing the corner curvature) –
Draw the mask, switch back to the Selection Tool, click off of the mask (so that all of the vertices aren’t selected at once), then select each vertex you want to move one at a time … you’ll probably need to hold the Shift key so the sides of the mask stay in place while you move each corner vertex.

To change the radius/size of the whole the mask –
Draw the mask, switch back to the Selection Tool, double click any one of the vertices so that the white transform box appears, drag any corner of the transform box in or out to resize the mask … hold the Control & Shift keys if you want the mask to scale evenly and retain the same center location.

As Chris said, it may be an unsupported audio codec. Similarly, it could be a file with “muxed” audio … the video and audio are contained within a single track instead of separate tracks.

If that is the case, you’ll need to transcode the file to both a video and audio codec that FCP will recognize as separate tracks. Sometimes, you can open the file in QuickTime, export just the audio as an AIF, bring the AIF into FCP and link it to the video in the timeline, but that’s often more work than just transcoding.

I’ll just point out that there is nothing wrong with the way time-remapping is working … you’re telling it to time-remap a video and audio layer so that’s what its doing.

First, you should never “export” from AE … always render using the render queue … for explanations as to why, search the forum for posts with both terms.

Second, you didn’t initially mention what your final output would be, but it now sounds like its web video … straight from AE isn’t the best way to generate web video files so you might try rendering a lossless file from AE and using compression/conversion software to convert that to FLV, H264 or whatever web format you need.

Also, if you have OpenGL on, try turning it off … I’ve seen it create all kinds of otherwise unexplainable errors in AE.

Hopefully, if you do all of those things, one of them will resolve the issue.

The only ways I can think of to do that within FCP is with a Vignette effect or a Shape Generator used as a mask … I don’t recall whether FCP comes with a Vignette, but between purchased third-party plugin sets and free ones, I have probably 2-3 Vignettes on my system, but I’m not at my FCP system right now so I can’t look to see … try searching the web for some of the many free FCP plugins since a Vignette is a pretty basic effect that seems very likely to be in at least one free plugin set out there.

Any chance you’ve used a demo version of a third-party plugin that only allows you to render the first minute?

If not, do you have anything red in your comp that might be obscuring the rest of the image at one minute? For example, a red 3D layer that may be overtaking the rest of the image as it moves in 3D space?

No need to feel that way at all … anyone who has worked in AE long enough has at least once wasted an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out why their animation is behaving in an unexpected way only to eventually realize that it is doing exactly what they told it to do … with the extra keyframe one frame away from the one they intended to set. Unfortunately, that’s the only way you learn how to quickly diagnose issues so that you don’t make the same mistakes over and over.

1) I don’t use SheerVideo or AutomaticDuck regularly and its been years since I’ve tried either so I can’t speak on them other than to say that what you described is in fact what they’re for, but it doesn’t sound like either is necessary. If you’re using a lossless codec in your FCP sequence, export from FCP as you described using that lossless codec, then render from AE using that same lossless codec, correct, there will be no quality loss.

You didn’t mention what your final output needs to be, but there’s no need to go back to FCP (or any other software) unless you need to do something AE can’t do or doesn’t do as well as some other software (i.e., master to tape or convert to web video).
