In my HD equipment research, I found that a good value for money (not a CHEAP monitor, but by no means costly either) HD monitor is the Panasonic BT-LH2600W 16:9 HD monitor that has all the inputs you would need for comprehensive HD and SD monitoring.

I am seriously considering this monitor to compliment my upgrade to M100 HD Suite. I have heard only good reports about the monitor.

I have not had platinum support for years and thankfully, due to the high quality of the Media 100 boards, no problems at all! I upgrade when I feel the need to, which will be soon, in fact when the Intel M100 arrives. Maybe a NAB announcement or perhaps sooner. No problem for me right now waiting.

For the past few years I have been perfectly happy with version 8, currently 8.2.2 on OS 10.3.9
Happy, happy, happy – and I use the M100 all the time.

You really do need to make your own mind up based on your requirements concerning platinum. I have FCP as back up.

Corrupt file like Joe stated or corrupt M100 timeline even. Maybe trash preferences may help. Maybe redigitize footage again if possible or re create footage again if an AE file or similar.

Over the years I have had a few issues like yours. Tends to be corrupt files so a redigitize worked wonders and complete trashing of the offending file as well.

Hope you find the cause quickly

January 29, 2007 at 6:32 am in reply to: Hard drives for capture

    Thanks,

I am hoping to buy the HD Suite for the long term. I understand about HDe but I wanted to avoid the upgrade. I plan on buying the Caldigit array (HD444) but not immediately, which is why I was hoping that my drives would work.

I know about the instability capturing HDV via fw, s that is why the convergent design box comes into play.

Thanks for your input. It was most helpful and I kind of thought as much concerning DVCPRO HD and the fw drives.

Can anyone else confirm or add please?

    Thanks

    Hi Michael,

The last thing is that I am in a hurry to upgrade to HD. My move to HD is a want to rather than a have to. I’m sure once I make the move I won’t know myself. So time has been on my side and my plan is for a 2007 upgrade, so I wait for the Intel M100.

    Thanks for your input.

    Thanks David and John.

I have been aware of M100’s plan to be Intel compliant in early Q1, 2007 since last year when announced.
I have also read that M100 would be ready in January so here we are mid Jan with all other Boris stuff ready for Intel and I was hoping for M100 to be very close. I understand that there are hardware issues as well as software issues to contend with.

I have been patient for some months now waiting to upgrade, so I suppose a few more weeks won’t hurt too much.

    Looking forward to HD Suite.

    hi mike,

i’m new to hd and still in learning mode But my first instinct is to ask if after installing the kona card, didyou go to aja’s web site and download the latest software update?

this is the only thing i know and can help you with.

Try composite video out (if there is such an o/p from the AJA to the 2800 ref in. Make sure the ref in on the 2800 is terminated.

I have been working this way with my M100i for years and years and my 2800 is genlocked to the M100.

    hope this helps
