I have been holding off on upgrading my Media100 V1.1 as I have been more and more inclined to use FCP. The reason, is because of the high cost of upgrading exactly as Marcus points out.
Please do not misunderstand me. I LOVE my M100 and use it for all of my high end corporate video editing for over 15 years, BUT FCP is not far behind for me. I am getting used to editing more and more complex jobs on it that I can do with such ease on the M100. Now that a new X will be available at an ‘upgrade’ price, it will be hard to justify M100 V2 upgrade, not that I really need it anyway. V1.1 is more than adequate for my use.
I agree with Marcus about upgrade pricing. Please review it so it is competitive. It really doesn’t get mentioned as a competitor to FCP, Adobe & Avid any longer. Why not?

Like Floh,I use QT 7 to stretch out ws programs that have been squeezed to 4×3 by QT 10. Open the movie in QT7, select ‘Show Movie Properties’ in ‘Window’ dropdown list.
Select ‘Video Track’ in ‘Visual Settings’ tab. Deselect ‘Preserve Aspect Ratio’ and adjust your picture aspect ratio to suit. Save the new QT size and you are good to go in QT10 playback as well.

Cheers for that info Patrick. I will investigate removing the filter, which I though was probably a waste. From my pov, I am very happy with the 350. As I mentioned earlier, my camera produces superb pics for me. I can unconditionally recommend this camera. Sorry I don’t have any experience with Panasonic cameras.

i found that the viewfinder’s cable has a fat filter right before the connector into the camera. this adds enough weight to the cable so that it drops down a little, causing annoyance at being able to do what you stated above with the stock lens. very annoying, frustrating and quite frankly perplexing. im sure the prototypes had this issue as well. a simple clip under the vf would be one solution, the other is to get rid of the fat filter.
nonetheless, i did get used to it to a degree. i put some strong double sided tape to hold the filter up to the vf. i now have a za lens, which has its controls further forward than the stock, making it easier to operate.

I understand what you are saying and I am a very patient person, really. Since M100 had the webinar which was to the wrong time for me and many others, they could still post details of it on their website. Even just a list of features, like they have proudly done in the past. Ok, so there may or may not be some bugs. All they need to say is it’s coming soon, hopefully very soon.
What about it Wick? Let’s get excited about 1.5 together sooner rather than later and not restrict a preview to just a few people.

I concur with Michael. I have an EX3 and using the Sony SxS cards only, thankfully to this day, I have never had a file failure. Importing is easy as pie as Media 100 has ‘inbuilt’ XDCAM file transfer import in its selection. Set up a bin and import. As michael states, and it cannot be emphasised enough, do not change the status of the BPAV folder.
Sure it may take a little time, but it’s hands free, allowing you to carry out another task while the Media 100 import the files.
I also have the nanoFlash that creates stand alone QT files. Super easy to import into Media 100 also via standard file import.

After the weekend I re rendered the clip and all is well, as are an additional half dozen clips with the same effect. Not sure why there was a slight image change in the first place and not now.
Switch off computer, switch on all fixed!
Moving on with my project.
