I may have spoken too soon. I have a mirror image of my previous system that is bootable and I thought I could boot from that disk, open each project and save it out to the new 10.5 system disk.
I did boot back into 10.4 and brought up FCP but I got the same response from the program that I did in the new system:
File Error:Wrong Type
Now I am at a loss…anyone have any idea and could it be the Pro Application Support 4.0.2 that I had installed?
Help…Please
Thanks,

I, too, have found an issue that has me pulling at my hair, and I don’t have that much to pull.
I repaired permissions and experienced the same thing but just waited and all was well. My big problem, after installing FCP Studio 2, it does not read my FCP projects that I had saved.
I get an error message saying: File Error: Wrong Type.
Now here is a strange thing. One and only one of my former projects will open in FCP. I really don’t remember, but I believe it was the only one I made after the most recent ProApps update from Apple (Believe it was Pro Application Support 4.0.2) anyway it is the one that updated my system when I ran Software Update after installing Studio and all my other Apple programs.
I have no idea if this would cause the problem as the other projects were Not made with this latest update installed but I can’t believe that it would.
Any ideas? I really need my previous projects back or I will be spending a great deal of time trying to re-create them. (that is not making me a happy camper)
Thanks.

I agree with both of you. I also feel that transitions should be sparsely used but that doesn’t really answer the question. Forget the scenario and all that goes with it.
The basic question still remains, is there a way to place a 15, 30 or whatever frame handle at the beginning and ending of every clip without having to do them individually?
There is nothing that I see in “Paste Attributes” that would accomplish this.
Now it is not a specific question for a specific task that I am working on, rather, it is a general question about how to accomplish this with the least amount of time wasted.
Thanks for your help and advice and again I agree with you but not this question just bugs me so I am seeking input.
Yes I could use iMovie but FCP is my editor of choice as I can do so much more with it.

I don’t know if this will help but I was experiencing the same thing on AVI files that I had previously been able to view and use.
I researched recent changes I had made to my system and found that a Free plug-in I had downloaded from Apple’s OS X downloads section was the problem’
I had downloaded “Perian 0.5” and once I removed it from my Quicktime plug-ins, the problem went away. It doesn’t seem to play nice with AVI.
I hope this helps.

Will,
I find it very easy to use and it does scroll smoothly. Open your Quicktime Player and under the file menu, select “Open URL” paste in the following:https://aviewfromthehearse.com/Videos/Rainy Day.mov
I made this movie for a friend and it is HighDef a bit large but let it download a bit before you start playing it or it may stutter because it has not downloaded enough.
You can save it to your hard disk to watch over again and it does run smooth. Also the graphic at the end of the roll is an option with this plugin.
Hope this helps

I found the plug-in from CHV to be very good.
Ken Stone gives his opinion here: https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/review_chv_text_v4_stone.html
It truly is a great add-on for me and works fantastically.
