    You could clone (not just copy) your hard drive contents (with something like Super Duper or Carbon Clone) to the new external. Make sure the new drive has the EXACT same name as your old drive that you’re taking with you. When the new drive is connected to the Mac, you shouldn’t have to relink or reconnect anything.

  • Another option is to purchase the After Effects version of Neat Video. That way you can just stay in AE.

  • Could this be a 23.976 vs 24 fps problem? A lot of folks say 24p when technically 23.976 is more correct. Possibly a crossed signal here.

    I apologize for the lousy typing skills of my last post. One too many ‘cans’.

    Thank you, Adobe. I can hardly wait to get my hands on CS6! I finally became somewhat fluent using Premiere, and am working hard to learn After Effects (I came from FCS3). CS6 just looks so vastly improved. I’m beyond impressed.

    With CS6, plus Avid’s Symphony upgrade special, and the new Smoke, and…xxx

    2012 will be quite the year to remember for all in the video creation field. Especially for me if Encore can now output a proper BDCMF folder 🙂

    Can Encore CS6 can output a BDCMF folder for Blu-ray replication?

  • Though it takes a very long time to render, I think Neat Video is the best noise reduction program out there

    Please make sure to check the frame rate of the iPhone videos. The iPhone shoots different frame rates automatically based on light source, ambient light, etc., so your source footage may show weird stuff like 25.80fps, 24.2fps…

    I transcoded the footage in Compressor to the frame rate I want (usually 23.976) before bringing it into FCP. Never had any audio sync issue using this method.

    The biggest help I can give is make sure you don’t have any other FireWire devices hooked up when the Canon is connected. Canons don’t like to share FireWire with anything. Capturing to esata or internal drive, or USB will work

  • I believe the software only option is turned on by default, but I could be mistaken.

    Are you outputting via your Matrox, or are you just creating a hard drive copy?. If hard drive only, import your EX footage into Premiere, then right click on the footage. You should get an option to create timeline matching the footage.

  • Okay, I’ve been looking at your post for a while, so I starting over with my questions;

    When you play the tape in the xha1, what does the camera’s viewfinder/display say? Does it say hdv or dv?

    You mention ‘bringing it in’ to Final Cut. Did you not use Final Cut to capture the tape?

    Did you stop or pause the camera after each take? Or did you perform multiple takes and let the tape run?
