I appreciate beenyweenies taking the time to respond. I can’t speak for the rates in San Francisco, or the personalites there, but thanks also to Ronaldo for his point of view.

    Beenyweenies –

Just curious… as someone who works from home, I’m curious about the extra work for you and your producers. Can you say a little more about that?

If I have an Extreme and I need to take in 525i to edit into a 720p24 timeline, how would you recommend I go about it?

kenstone.net has lots of good info. I don’t know of a Dummies Guide to Everything. There are so many combinations of hardware and software, I think it’s all about problem solving and knowing where to go for help (like here.) People talk about HD, but there’s more than one flavor. I was using DCVPRO HD 24p, and was mixing that with SD 480i. Supposedly in FCP 6 you can mix and match on the timeline, but I didn’t have that option.

The cow has saved my butt more than once.

    Thanks, Cow!

  • Sometimes I come to the Cow because I have a problem, sometimes just to see what types of problems people are having. Whenever I see JeremyG in the list of responders, I know it’s a juicy topic.

Glad to see you here. You’ve been a big help to me and many others.

Are you trying to render out to the Avid codec? If so, then this won’t do exactly what you want. If you’ve got to have timecode over the letterbox black, you will have to render out uncompressed, or something other than Meridian.

If you drop the source into the timeline and add the effect Text>Timecode, doesn’t that work for you?
