I’ll amend that. I’ve gone to an earlier place in the timeline, found a title that works correctly, laid it into the timeline at a later location, and it still wants to render. I’m stumped!

I’m just using the straight text tool – these are temporary titles, but I’ve got to make a lot of them, and it would be way better not to have to render. The editor who started the project says that when he began the titles worked normally, but then something changed. I can call up the item properties and set it for each title after the fact but:
    1. it’s time consuming
    2. it still sits on the time line with an orange line.

Found the effects, still having issues with Splice and Overwrite. Also, weird sounding error messages from Windows like “Delayed Write Error-All Information Will Be Lost”

    Hey James

It didn’t matter where the playhead was parked or how I marked the clip.

If it’s possible to load the Avid without effects, that must be what the client did. Wacky clients!

Thanks, Mike. I saw that in Preferences, but passed it over because it says Preview Size and that threw me. What’s odd is that this preference changed itself twice within a minute or two without my going into preferences at all, which made me think it was a shortcut. I guess it was really my Preferences corrupting themselves.

By the way, I’m not a print guy, but I find Suitcase more trouble than it’s worth. Maybe because I don’t own a huge number of fonts, but frankly it just seems like another middleman between me and my fonts.

No, actually they are all displayed in the system font that way.

I think I prefer dragging the parameter with the desired keyframes to the target object, but I still wish command-v/command-c worked.

    Well there, Special C

I defer to your experience in Motion, since mine is quite limited (about a week now). However, I’m pretty adept at AE, and am very comfortable with the idea of layers, and precomps, and I’m pretty sure I get the idea of objects within layers in Motion, and how that’s similar to a precomp in AE.

However, to be very specific, the filter Simple Border still appears to me not to respect masks not matter how you embed them. I’ll reread your posts a few more times and retry, but so far, it’s raster only.
