Set text aspect in DVCPRO HD 720p timeline
I’ve inherited a project that’s cut in 720p and when I create simple titles to drop in the timeline they need to render. Item settings show that the pixel aspect is of the created text is square rather than HD 960×720. How do I tell the system to create titles to match the timeline?

Are you using TITLE 3D, under the BORIS arrow? I use that and my text looks great…perfectly fit.

I’m just using the straight text tool – these are temporary titles, but I’ve got to make a lot of them, and it would be way better not to have to render. The editor who started the project says that when he began the titles worked normally, but then something changed. I can call up the item properties and set it for each title after the fact but:
1. it’s time consuming
2. it still sits on the time line with an orange line. -
I’ll amend that. I’ve gone to an earlier place in the timeline, found a title that works correctly, laid it into the timeline at a later location, and it still wants to render. I’m stumped!

After a while, FCP runs out of memory for rt effects. In order to gain more rt, you will have to render the timeline. Go to sequence > render all and sequence > render selected menus and put a check mark next to all options there, especially ‘full’. Once that is done, hit option-r to render all rt effects.

So I rendered out all the titles, and went to drop in a new one. Same problem. Vexing.

how fast are your computer and drives and how long is the program? how much memory do you have?
Sounds like your system is taxed. You will have to render along the way.

It’s a 2×2.66 dual core Xeon running 10.4.9 with 3 GB. It’s not my rig.
Just now I went to make a new title – looks perfectly normal in the viewer, but when I lay it into the timeline, and then toggle between the viewer and the canvas, the video looks bigger in the line monitor when I toggle to the viewer, and normal when I toggle to the canvas.
And yes it’s a long timeline – 2 hours. I’m the assistant editor, so I’m stuck with how the editor wants to work.
