Connect cables from the video output of the camera to the input of a set-top DVD Recorder. Record the playback from the camera to DVD.

If you don’t have access to the camera and only have the card, you could plug the card into a Blu-ray player (or any other device that can play the files and has a video output) with a USB Card reader and record from that to DVD. Either way it’s real-time, so you just have to wait for the length of the original recording plus a few minutes to finalize the disc.

Maybe not the best possible quality, but its very simple to do and especially fast for shorter recordings.

For streaming, I have been quite happy with my Livestream Broadcaster. Inexpensive, very simple to use, it saves your video to the cloud and we’ve had viewers around the world enjoying their families live events.

Also, I use the Mackie 1402 VLZ3, which I would recommend over the 1202. If nothing else, just for the faders instead of knobs. Of course extra inputs are always nice too.

I agree with James comment “fix it in production”. Don’t plan to have a problem that needs fixing, instead plan to make it good from the start. Fix any mistakes in post as necessary.

Can you at least rig up a make shift steady cam for these little cameras? Even a mono pod with a small weight at the bottom can do wonders to help steady small handheld cameras. Extend the monopod to the ground when standing still or collapse it and move around freely. With a little practice, the weight acting as a counter balance can really help to smooth out handheld shots.

I looked at the Bloggie. Its tripod mount is on the bottom, orienting it in portrait mode. Probably not what you want. I found one guy on youtube who built a very cheap homemade bracket to mount it in landscape orientation.

At least if you rigged all the handheld cameras to something it would hopefully prevent anyone from shooting in portrait!

As always, it’s a good idea to test a new workflow with a short clip first. So that you don’t waste a lot of time waiting while testing.

Try this-

Export one movie with all the songs from FCPX with current settings.

Import the resulting file into Compressor.

Apply the Apple Blu-ray settings to the Job.

Select the Job and, in the Viewer, place Chapter Markers at the beginning of each song.

In the Inspector, click the “Job Action” tab, choose Create Blu-ray Disc, and fill in the disc title etc.

Submit.

Wait…

If encode times are too long for you, consider Matrox MAX, it’s real time. The only change in workflow is apply Matrox Blu-ray Settings instead of Apple.

I use a netgear xav1004 for my Xbox, big screen and Blu-ray player. Online multiplayer gaming seems better than wifi and Netflix is definitely better. That’s the extent of my use with Ethernet over power. Plugged it in, seemed better, cool. FWIW
