    Jan,
I have spent more time trying to navigate the relevant sites to update firmware, and more time trying to figure out what the hell the proper procedure is for doing so, all because your website sucks. The grammer is utterly confusing, too. How is it that a multi-billion company can’t hire web people to make their “support” side support instead of frustrate and confuse? It’s really weakness to an otherwise great product.

    Gary,
The problem was combination of Sequence Settings issues in FCP and my Kona card. If you want to give me a call, I’ll share with you all of my settings. Do you have a Kona card in your system?

    Gary,
Sorry, but I accidentally responded to your inquiry with my own problem. We have slightly similar issues, so I was looking at your situation when I composed my own. Sorry for the false alarm and here’s hoping that yours is an easy fix.

    Hi,
I’m just starting a project shot on DVCProHD 30p. My material was imported from P2 media. I can’t seem to get the movies to move. The frame that the playhead is parked on will display in the canvas window and the external monitor, but it won’t show anything else when the playhead is in PLAY. When it stops, then it shows the new frame that its parked on. I can manually move the playhead in the timeline to reveal all frames and motion, but it won’t show on its own.

For the record, my sequence settings are
    960×720 HD 16×9
    Anamorphic is checked
    Field dominance is NONE
Compressor is for DVCProHD60p (my media was shot 30p, but that is not a selectable option)

As far as I can tell, the media settings match the sequece settings. Is there some other obscure box I forgot to check or setting I forgot to tweak?
    Thanks,
    David

Whether or not it solves my issue, at least now I know what I want for Christmas. Thanks.

Yeah, makes sense now. Can’t run the Hamlet under simulated XP AND Final Cut under OS X simultaneously or expect to toggle back and forth. Dang, someone needs to fix that!
So, I currently don’t have any scopes except what’s in FCP 5.1, and I’m not sure how trustworthy they are. We use ’em, but we also salt to taste based on what we see on the computer monitors and what we see on the Cinema Display from the Kona card.
Is that Matrox MXO any kind of an improvement? Doesn’t give you scopes does it?

Well, I’ve never run under PC emulation, but why can’t I just install emulation software on my edit station Mac that has the Kona card? When I do the color correction pass, it seems like it can become dedicated to that function under simulator software just for that purpose, no? Why can’t my edit station Mac serve the dual purpose? Runs under OS X in the project creation phase for FCP, AE, etc., and then runs under XP for the final step of color correction. Not sure why that solution won’t work. What am I not getting here?

Right, but 640×320 is larger than I want. Shooting for 480×270 or even a little smaller. And, I’m specifically referring to On2’s Flix Exporter 8, which I’m using inside of Compressor. Maybe you’re using the Flix Pro stand-alone product.

No, haven’t tried it from inside those two QT products. I’ll give QT Pro a try. Sure wish I had known this limitation of Flix Exporter before purchasing it. Makes it kind of a silly product.
