Actually yes, you can.

You need to switch the first color of the transparency grid (File>Document Setup) and then turn on Simulate Colored Paper, after that the trick is to NOT turn on the transparency grid. See attached.

But that’s not what I was referring to, when exporting to png, allegedly you are able to select any color you want for the background, that is not working as it’s supposed to, right now it only exports to either transparent or white, but not black or any other color. See attached.

I upgraded to that driver and it fixed a specific bug that had to do with the folding/unfolding of hierarchies in the object manager, in fact the driver was released solely for that purpose.

I asked this same question at a forum in Linkedin and a guy pointed out that I might be inadvertently looking the axis by double clicking very fast and not realizing it. It turns out that was the problem, after I became aware of that everything is working as expected.

I have an Intuos 3 at home, an Intuos 4 at work and I had to buy a Bamboo Pen the other day while I was away on a business trip because I forgot my pen at home and I just can’t use a mouse.

From my own experience the best of the three is by far the Intuos 3, it has a great sensitivity when it comes to pressure levels, I don’t think anyone can take full advantage of the 2048 levels on the Intuos 4, 1024 is more than enough.

The Bamboo is rather limited in functions, I seldom use the buttons at the tablet, but I have the two buttons at the pen highly customized for each application I use, including Safari and Mail, not to mention the heavy stuff (Illustrator, Photoshop, C4D, Premiere, etc) in which the functionality of the buttons really comes to life, the Bamboo tablet is very limited in that aspect, basically you can program a function for each button and stick to it throughout any software you may use.

The Intuos 4 pen nibs wear out incredibly fast, and they have a more rigid sensation against the tablet.

I’d really try to find an Intuos 3 if I were you (eBay) and if none if none is available then definitely go for the Intuos 4, it seems like a lot of money in the short term, but it will pay off itself if you plan to start doing professional reotuching and illustration, the Bamboo can’t do that.

It doesn’t work in CS4, I tried in different computers, all mac. Weird.

Richard are you on a pc or a mac? I have a mac with cs4 installed and neither option is viable, in fact there’s no “Apply to all” checkbox available. This has to be a windows only thing, I have been working with photoshop for 15 years on mac and never saw those options you mention, unless it was recently included in cs5 that option is simply not there.

Richard, that method does nothing, I tried it with Photoshop and illustrator, i used alt, command, ctrl and then several combinations of this keys and in every case it asked me individually to save each file.

Perhaps it’s a windows only thing?

save it as either a psd or png file.

increase any brush tool with the right bracket ]
decrease it with the left one [
add shift to the previous keys to increase/decrease the hardness of the brush

if you have cs4 and above you can do this by dragging the mouse holding ctrl+alt
if you add command to the previous set of keys you can increase/decrease the hardness of the brush

you need a u.s keyboard layout for this to work, haven’t tried with a different one.
