  • You mean flip the direction from -z to +z on the plane or vice versa? I tried that already but all i got was the same position but with the blue arrow facing down.

The must puzzling of it all its that the plane is standing vertically on C4D, but the solid lies horizontally on AE.

if this is not what you mean, could you explain a little more in detail what you mean by creating my planes with the same axis alignment?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Adam, sorry for the long delay n my reply, craziest week, next one is not looking better either.

All my splines are closed as far as I could tell, and I don’t remember if I mentioned this or nit, but eventually I got to work the way it was expected, later on I have found some other issues which led me to think that the software is either buggy or I have a sever issue with my RAM or processor, which I think is unlikely, I have 16gb and a quad-core machine (8 cores hyper threaded).

I’m attaching the file, as you kindly offered, you will see that it works fine now, but maybe you will find something that’s skipping my eyes.

    Thanks!!

  • That was it. Thanks a lot!!

You can separate the layers in Illustrator too, open the layers panel, side menu and choose release to layers, it will actually create sublayers within the original layer, all you have to do then is take them out and set them as independent layers, then you just delete the original now empty layer.

Also make sure that you are working with the same versions of Illustrator and After Effects (i.e. CS5 to CS5) I once found that trying to import an AI CS4 file into AE CS5 removed those very options you mentioned first.

Stanley wasn’t kidding, the swatch you’re looking for has a cross-mark icon, it’s the second one, right after none and before white.

  • Moreover, I imported an Illustrator path which entered C4D as actually 13 different splines, when I use the Connect Objects + Delete command a new incomplete spline appears, it is unusable because when I place it on a Extrude Nurbs object there’s no caps since portions of the spline are missing, yet I imported the same Illustrator path into C4D R11 and everything worked fine.

I know that I could create the Extrudes in R11 and then import them in R13, but what’s the point of having the new version if I still need to waste time doing stuff on the old one?

  • Thanks Adam.

I think the software is very buggy at most. All of the sudden I was able to make it work with both volume effectors, but then I changed the splines (originally text splines) to Illustrator ones, since I wanted to tweak the kerning further, and now none of the two effectors work, I tried placing back the original text splines and nothing.

I also replicated the steps I followed to create the effector the first time and I just can’t get them to work.

This morning I opened the timeline and it appeared empty, I had to restart twice before it would be populated again.

For a $1400 application, I really expect much more than this.

    Hey Adam, thanks.

    I found this thread:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/783940?decorator=print&displayFullThread=true

It has some tips on how to deal with this, as apparently it’s been documented before. I found that trying a mix of several things (turning off multiprocessing, turning continuous rasterization on my nested comp and collapse transformation off on the main one worked for me, at least for the time being.

Hope it will work for you too.

    Best,

    D.

    Hi guys, happy new year.

Where you able to figure this out?

I ran into the same issue today, sort of.
All the elements in one of my comps are disappearing as soon as I go full res. If I work on half then I can see them but with artifacts. I have no idea what’s going on, but my guess is the video card. All I’m using is an Illustrator CS5 file a 4 color gradient BG and an Optical Flares layer on top, tracking one light. I have attached a screen shot of my comp.

    All the best,

    D.

Hey Rob, ever found why this happened? I had trouble it with yesterday and couldn’t find the reason either.

    Best,

    D.
