The problem with this structure is that in the past you could select multiple takes; select “source settings”; make your adjustments; and they would be applied to all the highlighted clips. Now it seems the best you can do is copy the adjustments, then paste it, one clip at a time…after you’ve put it into the sequence. I don’t get why this was necessary. Didn’t add any functionality and it makes the workflow much less streamlined. I liked being able to care of all the RAW work at once.

I’m on a pc, but that path does not exist beyond \DavinciResolve. Any other suggestions?

  • Point of interest; check out the change in exterior exposure between the next to last shot and the final shot that starts with McFly Sr. riding by on his bike. A good 1-2 stops deeper, and it’s moved into magic hour. Must have been a lot of takes in between.

That got it…thanks. Now another question. I can now import the footage, but it’s nowhere near able to play it in real time. Is that just the way it is without having the RED card to handle the overhead?

Here’s an alternative to a silk. Try flying a double. It won’t soften the shadows, but it will knock them down a stop…enough to open them up. You can probably even get away with a big bounce for fill. No it’s not the same look, but it solves the contrast issue…AND the net is not subject to the same “fly-with-the-wind” dangers of a silk.

Very impressive job on the guy with glasses. No hint of reflection or haze on the glass at all. I’m in awe.
