I don’t have any issues either, that’s the trouble with updates.
But if Apple pulls a piece of software form distribution AND in the same breath tells you how to uninstall it, chances are it’s REALLY really bad for your health.

turn off the Motion Blur and then reverse the field settings.
See what happens.

“Jittery” is very subjective and it depends where you’re seeing the artifact, on the computer or on a video output device. Without sitting over your shoulder, it’s really hard to know where to start except to recommend a simple test. One object. Move it across the screen. Move down the screen. Render. Evaluate.
Change the settings in Motion. Render and evaluate.
go back to the original and import it. Change the settings in FCP.
Bring in the second file, do the same thing. Tedious.

Also suggest you insert a layer of text that includes labels describing your project settings. You cannot keep them straight in your brian without the labels.

Shane is correct, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to work for you.
Timecode is supposed to be absolute but there are so many different applications in filmmaking that seem to like their own flavor of t/c.

Invest several hours of careful testing, especially if your DV dubs don’t have window burns. Your audio people need to be in this loop and anyone who is going to get that EDL should have a chance to test the integrity of your data.

What you’re trying to do is not difficult but it’s not without numerous, possibly fatal glitches. Get the kinks worked out long before you have a deadline staring you in the face.

Open the manual, look up Bezier and Motion Path. Learn how to adjust and set curved motion paths for the center keyframes. Learn how to set eases for them and how how to set smooths for your scaling operations. Also, visit an After Effects forum and search (don’t ask) for “exponential scale.”

Warning (this isn’t in the manuals but everything else is):
FCP’s Bezier handles are notoriously oversensitive and way over-engineered. Far more difficult to use than similar tools in any other application on the planet. Dumb implementation of a standard interface feature.

Nope. but FCP5 will still save clips with those names if the capture is improperly terminated. I find the files are often useless, can’t be opened. But sometimes they work.

You shouldn’t be dropping frames. That always indicates a deeper issue that really should be corrected.

You really don’t need to put the same question up in every FCP forum but if you do, please go back and close them when you get a decent, useful answer. My suggestion is EchoFire by Synthetic Aperture. you can screw around all day adjusting those dumb little sliders in Photoshop but if you’ve got a broadcast monitor and a set of scopes, EchoFire will give totally objective engineer-grade indications of everything you want to know.
