  • REVISED QUESTION: FCP5 Drop Frame Error

In 4.5, FCP (In LOG & CAPTURE) would save a clip that was terminated due to dropped frames as something like “Filename”AV-1 or some variation there of in the Capture Scratch folder. Is this option still available in FCP5? It was great becasue I didn’t have to recapture the full clip and could keep atleast a partial file. I hope there is a way in the Preferences to change this.

Nope. but FCP5 will still save clips with those names if the capture is improperly terminated. I find the files are often useless, can’t be opened. But sometimes they work.

You shouldn’t be dropping frames. That always indicates a deeper issue that really should be corrected.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
